Despite the Goldwater Scholarship (there are some rare exceptions), a big question mark is whether you are an US citizen or US permanent resident, statuses that allow you to be considered for NIH training grants, or an International applicant on student or other visa. Assuming a US resident/citizen, your chances are pretty good because of your potential but you will need a broader application strategy, perhaps 30 MSTPs or so. An important aspect that might be helpful in your LOR from the PI is the extent of your involvement and quality of the writing of your first-author manuscripts. Some programs will screen you out just based on the 125 CARS. PM me if you want me to discuss more details.
