Just got the secondary for MSU. They only want LOR with their forms only! What happens if your letters are already written, do I need to go back and have the evaluator fill out their form and write a letter in their format? They attached a FAQ sheet, and it looks pretty strict to this requirement, but I was just wondering if someone actually called them and was told otherwise. thanks.

I ended up not sending in my secondary. I couldn't find anyone to fill out one of the forms. I could have only gotten one done, and I didn't want to write it myself to give it to someone else either. I didn't call them about it either.

as far as i know, they're pretty strict about the requirement. i go to ugrad there, so i've toured a few times and they've emphasized it more than once at the info meetings. never hurts to call though - they might make exceptions.

Yes, the requirement is absolute. I am an undergrad there too, and I applied there. They do not make exceptions. You MUST send the forms they gave you and you cannot substitiute.

That's what they told me too...

If you send MSU a LOR not on their form, they will throw it out. Their intention is to most likely keep the people that aren't serious about their program from applying. Hope that helps!!

are we talking about Mich State Osteopathic? And yes I do know that the thread is in the Pre DO forum, but I'm just making sure I understand what you guys are saying. thanks 👍

Yup, this is for MSUCOM (DO program). I do not know if MSUCHM (MD program) has similar requirements.

The MSU COM application was the most annoyingly difficult I've seen in two years of applications encompassing more than 40 med schools, both DO and MD. The LOR form was the most extensive I've seen so far, at most MD schools want a little ID page, not a full blown questionare. Why even include the LOR after the form is filled out. And then there was the copies that we had to make and bundle with the main app. I can understand why, but the two coupled together and the limited time frame, for me at least due to prior committments, made this application one of the most difficult and hard to pull together. I'll be quite surprised if I get an interview, this one sure does thin the pack...****! :scared: 😱
