Alrighty guys..I just thought I'd start thread we can all post in and ask questions since it seems like there are a lot of random MSU threads out there. Let's start a little profile thing here like some of the other DO schools are doing...Ok well my name is Suzanne and I'm 21 years old. I live about 30 mintues southwest of detroit. I'll be graduating in may and after that I'm just going to relax until school starts. Come on all your MSUCOM'ers..I know you're out there!!!! Ok ok..so I'm s little bored right now..but I think it would be cool if we all kind of knew a little bit about eachother before we started classes! 😀 😀 😀

Hey I'm Jason, 23 years old. Graduatred from Wayne State 2001. I'm currently working in a health care setting.

Just got an apartment on Wed. Capstone Commons! Excited about that.

Whats everyone doing in the meantime? Keep us posted and hats off to everyone!

Hey does anyone know when we start school?

MSUCOM 2007

I signed a lease at Berrytree apartments..its right on Mt. Hope and Hagadorn..it will be so nice to be only 2 mintues away from classes! One of my friends actually mentioned capstone and said they were really new and nice. I'm pretty sure classes the august 25thh and orientation is somewhere around the 14th..but dont quote me on that.

Hey guys, my name is Chris and I am 26 years old. I graduated from Wayne State in 1999, and I live in Clinton Township. I am on the waiting list for an apartment at Club Meridian in Okemos. I will most likely be living there, it is just a formality to go on the waiting list.
Hope everybody has a great summer, and get ready to have the time of your lives at MSUCOM.

What's up Jason?

What's up guys! hey Chris. I'm totally looking forward to our start.

I know it's going to be hell, but everyone that I've spoken with is lovin it up at Lansing.

See you guys then. Keep in touch everyone.

Jay

Hey future MSUCOM classmates! My name is Cara, and I'm 22 years old. I'm just hanging out at my home in Grand Blanc and substitute teaching until classes start. I finished up my undergrad in December and am enjoying taking a "brain" break for awhile. I can't wait for med school to start though, even if it is going to be rigorous. So does anybody have any suggestions for apartment complexes (especially quiet ones with not a lot of undergrads)? I definitely think we should get together before August. Please feel free to e-mail me- [email protected]. I look forward to meeting all of you!

Hi guys and gals!

I wanted to say welcome to MSU to all of you that will enter this upcoming fall. I will be a 2nd yr at CHM when you enter, however I wanted to let you know about MSU. CHM and COM have their basic science courses together during the 1st year and we all get to know each other pretty well.

In regards to apartments, I live at Village Green Apartments near the Lansing Mall on the NW side of Lansing off Saginaw Hwy. This place is very nice, and quite affordable. The management does a great job of screening people who want to live here to make sure they will abide by the policies set forth.
It is a 10-15 min drive to campus in the mornings, but I feel it is well worth it because of the quiet atmosphere. I didn't want to be around all undergrads and have a loud complex. I would recommend looking at Village Green.

Let me know if I can be any help answering any questions about the 1st year curriculum.
In the fall you will have
Biochemistry, Physiology/Histology, Anatomy, and Genetics.

In the Spring:
Neuroscience, Physiology/Histology II, Microbiology/Immunology, Pathology.

Summer: Radiology, Pharmacology

Also, you will have various COM or CHM classes such as Clinical Skills or "Introduction to the Physician-Patient Relationship"

The fall semester will kick your butt at first and be overwhelming, and you may feel numb after it...but it gets much better in Spring Semester..so hang in there.

Hello Future MSUCOMers!

Congrats on your acceptance and welcome to MSU! I will probably meet you during your orientation, but if you have any comments or questions in the meantime, don't hesitate to ask! I am currently a first-year student and am enjoying a well-deserved spring break now! 🙂
No matter what your plans are for the summer, be sure to just RELAX!!! You will want to cherish all of that "free" time and use it just to prepare yourself for a very busy first semester. To all of you who have yet to graduate, Congratulations and to all of you, the best of luck.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Julia 🙂

Does anyone know when MSU is supposed to send us the financial aid packet? I sent in the fafsa form about a month ago but havent received a financial aid report yet.

Hi Suzy,

I just wanted to let you know that you probably won't recieve your Aid package from MSU for quite awhile yet. Depending on when you filed your FAFSA, they have to process it internally and then send your SAR (Student Aid Report) off to MSU. This usually takes awhile because of all of the hands it has to pass through before your aid package is finally generated. Once everything has been determined, you will receive either an email or a letter from MSU stating that your package has been determined. There should also be instructions on how to find out what that amount is. You will have to select the loans that you want and the amount borrowed will either be directly deposited (you must sign up for this through the university web site) or mailed in the form of a check during the first week of orientation (usually). If you have any other questions, just ask. Good luck!

Julia
