MSW and LCSW licensure

My general understanding of LCSW licensure was that it generally took about 1-2 years of post-MSW supervision, but according to the University of Maine, their MSW students are eligible for clinical licensure directly following graduation! Does Maine just have lax requirements or something?
From their FAQ:

" I am interested in clinical social work. Will I be eligible for licensure at the Licensed Clinical Social Worker level?
Upon graduation, students who have met the requirements for a clinical emphasis are eligible for clinical licensure in Maine and in other states that provide for that level of licensure. The Clinical Emphasis includes completion of an elective course on adult and child psychopathology, other clinical social work electives, and an advanced year field placement in a clinical setting"

note it says "eligible for licensure", meaning their program meets the "CSWE-accredited" requirement that most states have, as well as the clinical track offering whatever specific courses Maine requires to practice clinically.

you still have to jump through all the other hoops, too.

note they have a LMSW as well, which is probably why they're differentiating between clinical and non-clinical in the bit you posted. LMSW is not a clinical license.

Got it. I was reading "eligible for licensure" as different from "license eligible"
