I am about 90% sure that I will seek an MSW from a traditional school. I have two options that cost about the same and are the same distance away (one requires the GRE). So which program do you think is better?

UT - http://www.csw.utk.edu/students/mssw/index.html

ETSU - http://www.etsu.edu/socialwork/mswprogram/default.aspx

If anyone has attended either of these programs, I would love to hear your thoughts. Those who haven't, I'd like to hear your opinion after reveiwing the two schools.

Thanks!

UT without a doubt. I'm not saying ETSU is bad... they aren't and I had a friend get his MSW there a while ago. UT just has more resources available for you. My friend who got her MSW there went into a management position with the state immediately following graduation based SOLELY upon the connections she made while in the program. I can't say that it would happen for you... but it might.

Good luck with your decision.

So you know poeple who have graduated from both. Did they mention what the classes and environments were like? My wife is leaning more for me to choose UT also. She would prefer relocating to Knoxville over Johnson City because her family lives closer to Knoxville, I was leaning more towards ETSU because I think Johnson City is safer all around (I mean actual safety not an easier school or anything). We may not relocate depending on class schedules and such, do you know both schools typical program format?

Thanks for the response.

I wrote both UT and ETSU on the same day with questions. ETSU responded the same day, answering everything that I had questions about. Still no word from UT, and I have written them twice. ETSU keeps looking better and better, plus the more I research UT, the worse and worse it looks. If you make a "C" you can't retake the class and can never receive your MSW. At ETSU, you can make up to two "C" grades, but you must retake them to get the grade to "B".

Any thoughts or opinions?

Thanks!
