any thoughts or opinions about these 2 heavenly places to do residency? pathologist by day...southbeach partymonger by night...ocean drive stroll on the weekends...signing out cases and then driving down to the beach for some sun and then dinner at Shula's on the Beach 👍 😍

Dude, I interviewed down at Miami and its a good program with a lot of stuff going on down there which means they work a lot as well cause they have a huge transplant center down there. The residents are also unionized which means they have incredible perks with good pay and everything. The thing I got from the residents was that housing was CHEAP! I couldn't believe that about Miami... and the girls!!! Holy Crap, the girls are HHHHOOOOTTTT... I traveled extensively and I have to say that Florida girls are the BEST looking girls I have seen in the US with Boston, MA a close second. You already know about the clubs and stuff so I won't get started on that... have fun 😀

Where's LADOC when we need his 2 cents 😉.

I heard (hearsay, so take it for what it's worth) on my interview travels that U of Miami residents are not a priority for the program - (i.e. teaching is secondary to getting things done quickly for clinicians).

I interviewed at U Miami/Jackson Memorial this year. Miami is an awesome city. Some things concerned me about the program, the main one was they have a unique processing technique which they say allows them to have a 1 day turnover. This is good for the surgeon who wants the dx, but doesn't seem the best way to learn as a resident. I think for surg path one of the biggest factors is having time to preview your slides before they are signed out. The medical center is HUGE. They seem to have a great specimen load and variety. It kinda seemed to me that resident education was less important there than it was at many of the other places I interviewed at.

right on bro...being a native floridian and south beachian for the majority of my days...I can attest to the HOTTNESS factor of the majority of miami femme fatales...the REASON..there is a HUGE latin population...have you ever had the pleasure of a petite, well endowed latin bombshell call you papi...believe me it is a good thing...that's the thing about Miami...you don't just see a few stunning women here and there...THEY ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE...and all of them would be more than happy to marry a financially secure, young, handsome doc...they'd spend most of their days working out, getting manicures, pedicures, getting their hair done...just to make themselves pretty for YOU...it really is heaven on earth :meanie:
