Do any of you guys here do MTMs from home or know anybody who does? And if so, is there a lot of money to be made? Last week I overheard a couple of my coworkers talk about pharmacists they know who do it. It was news to me as I did not think that it was possible.

Remote? From home? Any more information?
Yes. They work remotely... from home. Only requirements are to be licensed in the state you reside and have high speed internet and quiet place to work. Really great gig. You've gotta work hard, though... they pay around $38 per completely MTM session. You're an independent contractor, so you can set your own hours, as well. However, hours worked = MTM sessions completed, so no work = no pay, obviously.

If you're only getting paid 38/complete CMR. You are getting the shaft. A CMR is gonna take 20-50 min so at best you're getting back to a retail rate of you are busting you hump but you're also an independent contractor so

Patrick the tiger? they pay 38$ per cmr? where did you here that? I currently work for them and get only 26 $ :-(

I think that's comparing apples to oranges. The stress and also liability of working in a retail is incomparable to doing a CMR at home.

This is the groundbreaking stuff pharmacists are doing for $26/CMR? This is what my teachers were talking about in pharmacy school all these years? We took a step backwards as a profession if we allow to be paid LESS for more responsibilities or for new responsibilities. $26/CMR and it will take ~20-50 min? Get me back into CVS.

I've always wondered what kind of liability or responsibility do pharmacist assume when doing a cmr. Without having access to labs and diagnosis most of the time. We can check for ddi, suggest improvement in therapy, and auggest cheaper generic (if possible). I've done several cmr's with Mirixa and outcomes and I still do not understand what's so magical about them.

So actually the CMRs don't take that long.. I can complete anywhere from 2-4 in an hour. So the hourly rate is anywhere from $52 -$104. I'd say in general I'd average like 2.5-3 an hour. Sometimes the pts have a ton of questions, sometimes they don't have any. It's entire telephonic so there is only so much you can do. I can't observe it a pt has correct inhaler technique etc. Generally I focus on making sure the pt is taking the medication as prescribed, knows what the medication is for, major side effects to look out for and then answer any questions they might have. Then I'll go over some quick clinical recommendations and review potential care gaps (i.e. no statin when diabetic, or no BB post MI etc.)
