Hey guys,

I just received an email from the med school I've decided to attend saying that according to AAMC, I'm still holding more than one spot at different schools. I already called all my other schools that I've been accepted at to make sure that they received my withdrawal last week and they confirmed it. Any way to find out what schools AAMC has on file? Anyone have similar probs? 😕

Have you tried calling the AAMC? Maybe they can help you? You might also call the school you want to go to (if you haven't already), and tell them about the mixup but that it was entirely an accident and you'll clear it up...I'm sure it'll get worked out; sounds like AAMC made the mistake.

This is exactly what I was ranting about in this post:

I knew this would happen to somebody; it could very well have been me until I double and triple checked for fear I would have my seat swiped out from underneath me. I think some AAMC reform is in order. We need to have access to our own **** if other people do. It's analogous to not being able to see your own bank statement or credit card bill and having to call each and every store you made a transaction with to see how much your balance is. It just doesn't make any sense. Then again, does anything make sense in this God-forsaken process?

I guess I must be the only one irked by this flaw in the system. Does anyone agree with me??

I agree. But, unfortunately, it's probably not going to happen for a while.

I had that same problem, but calling the AAMC won't help. I was told by the school that I had withdrawn from that they did in fact withdraw me and had updated the AAMC. They told me to call AAMC to make sure their files were up to date, but AAMC could give me absolutely no information. I had to have the school I will be attending directly call the school I had withdrawn from to confirm it.

this happened to me last year too, after explaining that I had made numerous calls to get my name off the multiple acceptance list my school was really nice about it and said something like, "thats ok, as long as you tried. we'll see you in the fall, dont worry about it."

yeah, I actually called the school that I'm attending and they said it was okay also. Only thing that I am worried about is for the schools that I am waitlisted at, will that affect their decision to accept me or not? What do you guys think?

they cant see if/where you've been accepted to until AFTER they accept you themselves, dont worry.

I called the school that said I'm holding more than one acceptance this last friday and this morning, they told me exactly which schools AAMC says I'm holding. They said it might be a lag in the AAMC system which doesn't say very much about the way they are run. So, whoever else has this problem, try calling the school and asking which schools they have you down as holding.
