I am a little confused as to how it works for those who have earned and been fortunate enough to be accepted to 2, 3 or more PT schools. Can one student hold multiple spots by simply paying the deposits ? Is there a limit to the number that can be held by one individual ? From what I understand at some schools the deposit is refundable if someone chooses to go elsewhere. It might even be benificial to keep several options open at risk of loosing the deposit. If spots can be held up until the tuition is due at the start of classes what is the incentive to give up the spot other than common courtesy.
In my case I'm waitlisted so understandably I will have to wait and hope enough spots open up.

I'm not sure if there is a limit on the number of spots a person can hold, other than how much they are willing to spend on deposits. In my case I was accepted into 2 schools and paid my deposit for one, while declining the other. I'm currently on a wait list for my top 2 schools, so it's a waiting game for me. In the event I get accepted to either one, I lose 90% of the deposit I already paid. So I'm guessing it is more out if common courtesy to not hold several spots because there are people waiting. Good luck!!

Yes, you can place deposits to hold multiple spots but not all are fully refundable.
For example, the University of St. Augustine will refund $400 out of the $500 deposit (they keep $100 for administration fees) only if you notify them prior 60 days to first day of class. So be aware of the program polices.

I honestly don't understand how it would be beneficial for you to hold multiple spots (2+). Hopefully by now, you are narrow down to your number one & two choices (one you have been accepted to and one that you are waiting to hear back). Running a risk in losing a deposit for your number one choice of school is worth it in my opinion. If you don't get accepted to your number one choice, you have a program to fall back on.

Good luck and Congratulations!

Just to be clear I have not been accepted to any program....Waitlisted only. I am just hoping to get off the waitlist for a single spot. I guess where I thought it might be benificial for someone to hold multiple spots is if they weren't sure which school they would ultimately choose. They could take several months ( or all the way up to the tuition due deadline ) to make their deciosion. This would give them more time to weigh out tuition costs, location etc. This would be kind of a bummer for those of us who are waiting.

I understand what you are saying. I personally don't see how it would be beneficial for an individual to hold more than two spots. The majority of programs do have deadlines in making it official (which is coming up). To give you some encouragement, I have had friends that were taken off the waitlist and were accepted in May (for Fall start). If I was waitlisted, I would keep in contact with the program every so often... to see where you were on the list and if there was anything you could do to help your chances.

Good luck :luck: ... at the end, it will all work out for you!
