Multiple bio classes

Freshman: only chem 1 & 2
Sophomore: orgo & bio 1 (mistake); 2nd semester- orgo and genetics (BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!), summer - physics 1 & 2
Junior: human phys 1st sem, microbio 2nd sem
Senior: microbio 2 & Biochem (mistake-just for biochem); 2nd sem- evolutionary bio & bio of eye (don't care really, 2nd major ... ready to get out)
Studying - manage your time wisely - use the library - don't bring a laptop w/ you (i spent many wasteful hours on AIM and facebook and countless college humor sites) - there is a general consensus among my pre-med/dent friends that having a g/f or b/f during you hardest classes is probably NOT going to help (2.9 semester from personal exp)
What I would have done... take major science classes 1 at a time and spread them out... use summer school if you can
But if you had to double up

Umm, I have no idea what Biology and Chemistry can do you when you take them together. But check this out, this coming september, I am taking Orgo I + Biolo + bio lab + keep my fulltime job (yeh I am a software developer which basically means I work 40-50 hrs per week).
How am I gonna pull this off? I am planning ahead, right now, I am planning on losing ALL my friends (rule #1, thou must have no life). On top of that, I broke up with my girlfriend about a month a ago (rule #2, thou must have no sex). And finally, cancel TV and throw away DVD player (rule #3, thou must watch no tv....not even porn!!!!!!).
C'mon, those are what you use study breaks for. Don't squander your time with the college coeds...
Yep, definitely the norm for a biological science major. I don't remember a semester that I didn't have at least 9 hours of science courses.
yea me neither....if you are science major...then what you take is lots of science. i've had up to 4 science classes at once...
in order to graduate on time how could you only take one at a time? and why would you want to make your schedule look not challenging to the adcom?
My last semester of undergrad I had 17 science units, all of which were upper division courses, and still made the Dean's List...I didn't work very much though...but I studied about 5-6 hours per day and about 16 hours on the weekend.
Being organized and studying smart is what worked for me. I also treat myself with good food and great coffee; it kept me going.

I love science courses, I am taking spanish 3, a literature class, two upper division science courses along with my senior chemistry seminar(which is a 20 page paper and 50 min presentation.) I am at my wits end, not because of the science, but because of literature and spanish. I find biology and chemistry to be so interesting they come so easy to me. I could spend hours studying for my micro/biochem class, but 45 min with Spanish is like eternity. I know dental school will be very chalenging, but I am looking forward to using the one side of my brain for all my classes.
Taking 13 credits of science, with 4 labs. Nothing like having 13 credits but being in class 40 hours a week...
As far as managing, don't leave everything 'till the last minute. Spend a few hours a night studying/working and you should be set.

Wow, you guys are hard workers. I was taking cell bio with lab, cal 3, and mathematical reasoning. All these classes were 5 days a week and I was working weekends and taking care of my family member too. I tried to spend as much time I could on cell bio and mathematical reasoning, but I couldnt. I couldnt thoroughly study for either one, so I ended up ruining the midterm for both. I dropped both classes. I am so disappointed in myself. 🙁
i wouldn't feel bad if i was u.....The adcoms are human beings and they WILL underestand ur tough circumstances.... quit that darn weekend job of yours and re-take those classes and rock them inside out
