Would it be appropriate to send more than one "Letter of Intent" to the same school, If you provided more new information. Sort of like a follow-up letter. Any thoughts? 🙂

I know people have done it. If you have new information that they don' have, I think it will be fine. I don't think it will be good if you only repeatedly send same things over and over.

No. If you need to update information, then just call them and tell them.

You don't need a letter of intent in the first place, anyway.

I posted this in another thread and I'll say it again - a letter of intent is serious business - basically telling a school that you'll go there if accepted and will turn down any other offers. It isn't legally binding, but it is ethically. Sending more than one is unnecessary; they get the idea.

Now, if you're talking about a letter of INTEREST - then sending more than one is ok - but I wouldn't send 6 million or anything. Send one if you're on a waiting list, if you have something to update them on, etc.

Bullsh1t. It's a dog-eat-dog world man... you gotta do what ya gotta do to get in.

The simple way around this is to only tell one school that they are your number one choice and that you would drop any other acceptances should they accept you and tell others that you have other acceptances which you would drop should they accept you. A little play with words goes a long way and schools play the same games with us, to the point that it is sickening, so don't feel too bad about self preservation.

I did send a letter of intent to my top choice school but I don't know whether it helped me to get in or not. I also mention in that letter about all the things which I have done since I have send my applications like the grades in the classes which I took last semester, co-author on research publications etc.
But I would highly recommend sending over something in writing if you are really interested in that school and follow up on your application by giving them a call and checking your application status.

Relax, n'kay? I was only answering the OP's question - which specifically said "should I send more than one letter of intent?" And I hold that no, you shouldn't. I didn't discourage the OP from sending letters of interest - heck, send as many as you want.

I didn't send a letter of intent. I just called them.

Saves postage.
