Hello,

Due to family reasons, I hope to stay in a particular area for residency. I was wondering how sympathetic are PDs to this. Obviously, I wouldn't apply to something that I don't want to do and happy if I match into any of the program I apply to. Thanks.

It's been done. I imagine it could get uncomfortable if/when PD's find out, but if you explain, they should be sympathetic (although this is not guaranteed). It might help if you had a "theme" (i.e. instead of blanket applications to all specialties, pick some aspect of medicine you're particularly interested in and apply to all things that have something to do with it).
