I went to medical school at MUSC. I can't really remember what's on the website.
First of all, Charleston is pretty much one of the best places to live on the face of the earth. I think maybe Cozumel or a villa in the swiss Alps might be a little nicer, but then you don't get the good exchange rate. The residents are all very laid back but the program is deceptively academic (I mean this as a good thing...) with a strong noon conference and morning report schedule and a well-designed journal club and evidence-based medicine sessions. The cardiology and neonatology services crank out a huge amount of reserach, as does heme-onc, and the ED is getting ready to start a fellowship as they continue to expand. They also just added some electives to the rotation, including an intern-year elective, which would be nice.
I live in a much colder, much more crime-infested city with no good surfing, and I don't mean to ramble. But my whole career is pretty much based around returning to Charleston as an attending some day, if that helps. 🙂
