  • Structure of three basic muscle types: striated, smooth, cardiac

that is from MCAT topic list

From most other books i read striated consist of skeletal and cardiac, while smooth is the other kind. On the MCAT is skeletal muscle the only one considered to be striated.

The MCAT will not test controversial or debatable facts unless explained clearly in the passage. I would include the cardiac muscle as being striated, but assume the mcat is referring to skeletal muscle when they mention striated muscles.
