Fellow SDNers,

What kind of timeline have those of you who applied to Midwestern's (AZPOD) podiatry program been experiencing? It seems odd that my January MCAT scores were sent to all of the schools on March 3rd, and all but Midwestern has already responded with an interview invite or acceptance offer. In fact, since March 3rd, one school has already extended an interview invite, interviewed me, and formally accepted me in the same amount of time that Midwestern is claiming that my file is still "under review".

Is this a sign of an upcoming interview denial, or perhaps just administrative inefficiency?

Thoughts? Experiences?

Thanks!!

This is my experience with AZPOD.

In mid december this past year I applied to CSPM, DMU, Temple, Scholl, and AZPOD.

Within 2.5 weeks I got interviews at CSPM, DMU, Temple, and Scholl.

Come end of february I finished all my interviews. Shortly followed were acceptances from CSPM, DMU, Temple, and School.

Mid MARCH, after all of the acceptances, I got a interview invite from midwestern.

Needless to say I will be attending Temple.

To be even more specific with my situation, I submitted my application to AACPMAS at the very beginning of September 2010. Had it verified about three weeks thereafter. (at that time, no MCAT score reported) Received interview invites from Scholl, Ohio, and DMU. (Hold for MCAT scores from Barry and AZPOD). Come March 3rd- MCAT score submitted to AACPMAS for distribution to schools. And to date... still no word from AZPOD...

Have you called the school to see what the hold up is? They would probably be your best source of info. I know that they often won't even look at the application unless all of the info is in including MCAT scores, so that may be why they didn't get in touch with you right away. I would just call and double check that they got all of your information. Sometimes things happen and not all of the info gets put in the right folder or sometimes the scores never make it to the school. I would call the admissions office and ask them about it, and then if they have all of the info they need, I would email the chair of the admissions committee (not sure who that is currently since I am off campus) and just let them know that you are still interested. Good luck!

Thanks for reply. I have been calling weekly since the week my MCAT score was distributed to the schools. At this point, it actually feels a bit awkward asking the same question(s) regarding the status of my application. I'm repeatedly told the same story- that my application is still under "committee review". I may try emailing someone directly, but do feel a bit intrusive doing so. Pushiness is not a particularly desirable trait for medical applicants. Desire/enthusiasm yes. Pushiness no. I'll post as soon as I get any feedback whatsoever. Any others out there care to share their experience with AZPOD this year?

When I applied this year i got an invite to azpod 2 to 3 weeks after the other schools

MBA2DPM, I saw your note and thought that I would maybe just throw this out there as something to think about. I have spoken with some of the faculty about the in-coming class because I have a friend who is trying to start next year as well. They indicated to me that the 2015 class is close to being filled if it isn't filled now. At the time that I had asked, they had submitted all of the acceptance letters that they could. Perhaps, that is an explanation for the dely in responding time. They may not have known whether or not there were seats available. MWU filled up fast this year.

When I applied in 2009 I didn't get a response from MWU until a few weeks after the other schools as well. I was complaining about it to my brother-in-law who had applied to dental school in may or june of that year. He looked at me like I was crazy. I guess it's pretty typical for students applying to dental schools to wait a few months sometimes to even hear back. I have heard that MD/DO can also be a long wait.

I would say that even though MWU is a few weeks later than other schools, it is really nothing compared to most other profession school application times.

Yeah, Wonder Boy is right, it seemed like the class filled up fast this year. Maybe that's why you haven't been invited to interview.

Ditto, but I will be attending Scholl

It's been a few weeks, so I figure an update is in order...

THERE IS NO NEWS!

Two months now and still not even the slightest contact from Midwestern. I appreciate those of you who noted the 3+ month wait to receive an interview.

BUT... if you ask me, this is a joke. Apart from the IRS, DMV, and the U.S. legal system, I've never encountered a more inefficient system.

I wonder if this is any indication of how well the school runs?!

I'll let you read into this experience what you want. The admissions process is not a great indication of how the program itself runs. The admissions department is not run by the podiatry program specifically. I have no idea anything about your specific situation, but I do know that last time I heard a few months ago the class was getting full. I guess it's possible that they are waiting to hear back from those they have offered acceptances to before they offer a new round of interviews. Why they haven't communicated anything to you... your guess is as good as mine. Wherever you decide to go, best of luck!
