I was accepted at UIC this morning. Before today, I was ready and excited to be a part of the inaugural class. Now, I'm faced with a very difficult decision. Did anyone else have to make this decision? I would appreciate any thoughts or reasons for picking one or the other.

... I have 48 hours from noon today to accept UIC or they revoke the acceptance...freaking out a little!

also, UIC students (current or incoming): is that tuition sheet that Carolyn sent out accurate? (estimating about 45,000 for D1) Or are there extra costs not on there, like clinic fees and instrument costs?

The tuition has been revised for this year. It is now 60k for tuition+fees (mandatory).

If you take all of the loans they give you for housing and personal expenses, etc. Then 1st year is 82k.

This is a 15k jump from the sheet you have. Notice the 2nd, 3, and 4th years are 10k+ more than the first years usually. If you go by this then the 2nd 3rd and 4th years will now be 70k with no housing (just a guess, call and ask).

Are you serious? I didnt think it was that much... Where did you get those numbers from?

60k for instate tuition? Are you sure? On the UIC website, the tuition total is very different.
If its 60k, 70k,70k,70k that would make all 4 yrs tuition 270k!!

dont believe then call and ask... i am 100% sure on the numbers for 1st year. like i said above i just guessed on the nd 3rd and 4th year numbers. i was also a little in disbelief about the numbers. the website shows tuition per semester. u go to school spring fall and summer so x3 and there is a 15k instrument fee or something that is not listed on the website.

So UIC is the most expensive instate tuition in the country, and as expensive as some top private schools?
Are you going there in the fall?

Undergradguy is correct, the tuition went up significantly from the handout they gave you at interviews. UIC is THE most expensive state school. If you look closely at the handout from the interview, the percent of their funding from the state is extremely low. Can't remember exactly, but it's only something like 10%. And Illinois is broke. I also talked to some of my friends who are D3 and D4 and tuition has gone up every year, iwith a huge jump for 2011. Yuck.

So you have to multiply the numbers on the website by 3? Do all 4 years consist of summer semesters?
