I am having a super hard time choosing between the two and the deadline is approaching fast so I am a little stressed out. I am a CA resident and looking to specialize (not sure which specialty yet maybe endo/ortho?). COA should be around the same. Here below are the pros and cons list I made, please correct me if there's anything incorrect as that may affect my decision!

MWU AZ Pros

- System based curriculum (I also heard they are very accommodating so there's never too many exams to take all at once so I might have a slightly easier time here?)

- Modern facility and new technologies

- Excellent clinical (get to place implants as a pre-doc and can be certified for invisalign and laser as well)

- Cheaper cost of living (I would rather live alone in a studio or 1bed/1bath)

- One time 20k scholarship

MWU AZ Cons

- No specialty programs (not sure if this is a disadvantage if I plan to specialize)

- Further from family (more expensive and longer flights to get home)

NSU Pros

- Closer to home (cheaper and shorter flights home)

- Have connections (my bosses graduated from Nova so I feel like if there's anything there's always someone I can get guidance from)

- Close to the beach (It's nice to be around the beach but I could be fine without it too)

- Has specialty programs (making connections getting LORs might be easier?)

NSU cons

- Will probably need a roommate as the cost of living is pretty high

- Higher pre-clinic student to faculty ratio

- Seems like they sometimes struggle to find patients and was told that clinic is very disorganized

Please provide explanations or any advice! Thank you all in advance!

A bit complicated to explain but my family live outside of US (I am not an international student though) and Florida is only about a 3 hour plane ride to my family.

I want to settle in CA but I know that CA is very saturated with dentists so I am open to practice elsewhere if needed

Both schools aren't necessarily known for pumping out many specialists.

However, MWU-AZ is well known for producing excellent general dentists. Between NSU and MWU, I'd probably pick MWU. I've heard the atmosphere is also not as stressful and the weather would be a lot nicer compared to NOVA (though probably hotter), wouldn't have to worry about potential hurricanes either.

Being closer to CA, the school is more likely well known than NSU as well if you plan on moving back. Or even being around the surrounding states.

you should choose mw-az if you are planning to be in west or mountain (and maybe even central) time zone...

although it's hard to discount being closer to your family

what about friends? i assume if your bosses went to nova you are working in FL...

I have more friends in CA. As for AZ, I don't really know anyone there. I only know one friend in Fl but that one friend is about 2-3 hours driving distance... My bosses went to Nova but moved to CA and opened a practice here so I currently work for them.
