I know that some schools will require this froom professors/physicians...but what about us non-trads that work for a retail company? My boss informed me that he doesn't have any letterhead papers, but he is willing to write a LOR. Do I have to inform all the schools of this by email? If so, should I do it now, or wait until the cycle begins?

Offer to make him some, it's not hard. Doesn't the store have some sort of logo? Try to obtain an electronic file of the logo or even scan it if you need to and put it at the top of a Word template with the address/phone.

This. Even if you don't have / can't easily obtain an image of the logo to put on the paper, just put a heading with the company's name, address, phone number, etc. on a Word template. Not a big deal.

Also -- if you boss doesn't have letterhead, he may not be the kind of person who writes a lot of letters. Get some samples so he has something to guide him and the letter will work for you.

Do I need to go to Kinkos and print this out, or can I just send him the template? I guess one will be in color and one will be black/white. Hopefully this doesn't matter, but I'll do whatever I need to do.

You need to send him an electronic version of the Word template so he's got it to print out several copies of his final letter.

By the way, if this is a guy who doesn't regularly write letters, let alone recommendation letters, you should maybe rethink having him write your letter. This is going to be one of the most important recommendation letters of your entire career. Don't trust it just anybody.

This. It's not too hard to create a letterhead for the business. Make it yourself, and give it your boss to print on it.
