Should I call? E-mail? Set up a meeting (school is about 120 miles away)?
I have a 29 MCAT and a 3.3 GPA but am from Penn Engineering.
I am thinking about applying to MUSC early (avg gpa: 3.6, mcat=29.5). For instate in 2005: applied 406, interviews 309, accepted 168, enrolled 134. 31 enrolled EDP.
I know my stats are a little low, but honestly if I can't get in here then what are my chances of getting into some other school that doesn't favor SC residents? Because I went to Penn, I'm hoping I can stand out against the mostly in-state undergrads. And I like MUSC a lot better than USC, so if I'm going to be in state, I'd much rather be in Charleston than Columbia.
BTW, I am currently enrolled in summer session I at USC (Columbia). I'm taking Human Anatomy and Physiology and retaking Orgo 1... getting an A in both (ranked like 2/75 students in orgo, 2/25 in anatomy). I'm planning to get a recommendation from at least one of the teachers. Hopefully that by proving I can do well when compared to SC students, my GPA will not hurt me as much. Classes end June 27th, and hopefully I can get my transcript right after that and submit it to AMCAS and then submit it.
