Hi everyone, I took the DAT today and got disappointing scores.
PAT:16🙁🙁 With this score will I be cut off from applying or being accepted to dental school
QR: 18
RC: 19
BIO: 19
GC: 19
OC: 20
TS: 19
AA: 19
My BCP GPA is 3.53, sGPA is 3.62 and oGPA is 3.61. Do you think I have a chance with my stats or should I retake the DAT again ?
Let me know what you guys think.
*I want to apply USC :luck:

Thank you

Your dat is a little bit below the average of matriculants but you do have a strong gpa. The 16 pat will depend on each school. You should call each one and ask.

Just wondering, why do you want to apply to a 500k school? It's the most expensive school.

thats not bad, PAT might be the problem though... how were you scoring on your practice exams? mine is in 2 days so i am trying to gauge if i should postpone.

I wanna find some schools in California; however, with my DAT score, I have no choice 🙁

I did the DAT 2009 one day before my test. I got 20 AA/ 20 TS/ and 18 PAT. I think it was a good indicator.

You could retake if you want, but I wouldn't count yourself out. Remember it's a holistic review.

Schools in California are competitive to get in I think. Actually, your DAT scores are not so bad. If you have strong EC's, lots of shadowing/volunteering hours, or even research. You will likely get some interviews from California schools. If you are 70% concerned about getting interviews, then you can always retake the DAT. May I ask how did you prepare for you first DAT? I want to see if you can make more improvement on your DAT if it is needed.

I prepared my test in 3 weeks, after my final exams. I used DAT destroyer and DAT BC. I studied 8 hours a day and I also had the part-time job. I don't know whether I retake my DAT or not because my summer classes have just started today. Besides California, I also applied Creighton, Midwest, Arizona, Kentucky, Missouri, New England. Otherwise, I am thinking about Tufts, NOVA, Boston, and Ohio. Can you give me some suggestions ?

If you don't want to retake DAT, you can go online and look up the average DAT scores of accepted students for each school that you are interested in applying. Even though 19 is slightly lower than the average for most accepted students, you still have a chance. From what I have been hearing, submitting the application early may slightly higher your chance of getting interviews. So you may want to consider turning in you application ASAP.

Here is my school list:

1. University of Louisville School of Dentistry.
2. West Virginia University
3. Midwestern University of Arizona :luck:
4. Arizona School of Dentistry AT Still :luck:
5. Midwestern Illinois
6. New England
7. Kentucky
8. Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health AT Still
9. Nova (not sure!)
10. Creighton
11. Tufts :luck:
12. Nevada
13. NYU

Let me know what do you guys think ? Which schools should I cut off my list ?

Thanks

Kentucky is a state school. These schools take fewer OOS applicants and tend to accept those OOS with higher stats.
