my computer crashed yesterday. I've spent all my time to get it back up and running since then. It looks like the hard drive is dead so ALL the chad's videos that i had saved on there and Crack Dat Pat that i just purchased two weeks ago is gone too. :( Does anybody know if CDP will partially refund my money or let me run the program on another computer (one i'm currently using)? Also, what do i have to pay now to get chad's videos which i found to be really helpful for o-chem? Appreciate your help!

Ah, that really stinks. I would suggest emailing CDP. I feel like they might let you do something where you pay a discounted price if you explain the situation. I'm not sure of the price for the videos.

I got the same situation before and I talked to them. They consider the program just like a book. If we drop the book into water, there is no way to get it back. However, they gave me some free program like Crack DAT reading and offered me some discount for crack dat Math.

call CDP and see if there is a way that if you can document that your computer actually crashed (say if you were to take it in to be repaired and you can prove this to them) that they could reissue you a license for the software. I know if you get a new computer and show them proof that you purchased it within a reasonable amount of time that they will reissue it.

I fix computers often (family, friends, brother's, sister's) AND I DON'T EVEN GET PAID DAMN IT THEY ARE USING ME :bang:.... sorry going off topic here

Are you sure the hard-drive is dead? When you click the power button, what happens? if nothing happens at it, It could be your power-supply, put your noise next to it and try to smell it, if it smells like something is burning, its your powersupply....

Worse case scenario = the hard drive is REALLY dead (which is usually not the case unless the computer is VERY OLD, like more than 10+ years and was used ALOT)... You can still take it to places and have it extract whatever they can from it. I've seen this done many times before with people who have like over 1000+ pictures of a lifetime stored into just 1 machine without a backup copy....

If the worse comes, and you can't repair it, do you have like $200 sitting around, you might need to re-purchase crack dat pat :(

I do it too. I've grown to the point where I tell people Buy a new computer. I can't make miracles happen. You want everything in the world on an old p4.

Anyhow Hard drive data recovery on a truly bad hard drive isn't cheap. It'll likely cost more than repurchasing CDP. Maybe worth it for pictures or extremely important files but CDP isn't that important.

But yeah check your power supply. People often call the tower itself the "hard drive" and when it doesn't turn on. They are like its dead.

I'm happy to help figure it out if you like dentalworks says describe exactly what happens when you turn it on.

Does it not turn on at all? Does it make beeping sounds? you get the idea.

This is totally true and I completely forgot to mention it. Hard drive recovery is a very expensive process, they'll charge you by the hour and its NOT cheap. I think like 80-100 an hour and trust me, they will take their sweet @ss time

the hard drive is making a loud clicking noise and then it stops--which is usually a sign of it failing . The computer can't even detect it anymore. I've tried pretty much everything by now including taking the hard drive out and hooking it up to a different computer but still nothing. At this point, i've pretty much given up and not going to waste any more time on it. I read on the cdp website that they will give me a new license at a discounted price if i can get a note from a technician confirming the computer really crashed. Hopefully, they won't make me pay the full price again. Thanks everybody for your responses.

update, in case somebody has this problem in the future: they reissued the license for $25.99 for the Ace edition, which is actually a lot less than what i thought it would be.

Whoa thats a great deal...I think the cheapest thing on their website is like $100....

Im glad it sorta worked out great for ya (minus the $26), but overall, great customer serves from the CRACK company  (that didn't sound right lol)

Yep. HDD is toast. The clicking you're referring to is the "click of death"...the only way of getting your data off of it is to send it to a specialist who takes the platters out of the drive, puts them in a new enclosure, etc. Base cost is around $1k...I'd say good riddance and move on. Sucks when that happens, especially when you have to tell the customer who has sensitive information on it (wedding pictures, baby pictures). Always have a backup, especially if information is that important to you.

How long did it take CrackDat to respond to your request and re-issue you the license keys? My hard drive crashed and I lost my $300 royal flush, and I'm taking the DAT on June 11th....only 2 weeks away:(

i think it took them a day or two to call me but I couldn't answer the phone so they left a message. Then I emailed them that I just wanted to pay the $25.99 to reissue the cdp license alone. The next day they sent me an email with the new license key.

Wow I hope they're that quick with me. Thanks!

i e-mailed them about it, they just asked me to send them a receipt of my new computer (or if a note from a technician or something) and my time ticket for taking the DAT...i got it back for like 20 bucks or something. just e-mail them about it.

I emailed them last night and they responded about an hour later, and sent my new license keys this morning. So soon! I paid $60 for 3 new license keys (not complaining since I originally paid $300) and they gave me the royal flush reading package which I didn't buy before. They're amazing!
