I was just reading through what I wrote to the different schools and I came across this. Let me say, before all the comments, I'm not to sad about it because I could not have dealt with 100% PBL. Anyways, here it is.

In the space provided, please write a brief statement, giving your reasons for applying to Weill Medical College of Cornell university: (about 6 lines)
A comprehensive medical education in an urban environment is very important to me. I ultimately want to work in an urban environment, and it makes sense to pursue medical school in a city that reflects my ultimate career objectives. I feel that large cities best suite me and Mount Sinai being in New York is a huge plus. Along with cities like Paris and London, New York is one of the most recognized and popular cities in the world. I feel that New York is the type of city I would be happy to live in the next four years of my life and beyond. I decided to apply to Cornell because of its great reputation and its location in New York,

whoops!.....sometimes I like to think that they don't even look at the secondaries, they just cash the check.

Just try to find some program at Sinai and say that you are interested in participating in it while attending Cornell. You can cover this up.

I sure hope you didn't misspell "suit" in the actual secondary.

Personally, I would have tied in as much as you could in their short space. You emphasized the size and urban nature of the city, but in my opinion, they're asking why you chose to come to their school, not just NYC. Perhaps showing that you did some research into their curriculum, et al would be beneficial. But then, I did that and haven't heard a peep since.

If it makes you feel any better, I signed the line that I was supposed to print my name and printed my name on the line where I was supposed to sign. I only had one copy of the application, so I just sent it in as is 🙂

when they sent me the interview email invite, they mispelled their own school's name. i think they will be cool about it; even though they are all probably standing around in the office laughing about it.
