Hey everyone,
I'm fairly new here. I just took my DAT test today and i was wondering if i could get some feedback from you guys about my score.

PAT - 21
QR - 19
RC - 18
BIO - 20
GChem - 21
OChem - 21
Total Science - 21
AA - 20

Haha my QR and RC were pretty low because i was dead tired at the end and i was always looking at the clock because of the time crunch.
For those who are going to take the DAT in the future:
The study materials i used were Kaplan, DAT Destroyer, and DAT boot camp. And any of the free classes that kaplan gives you.

The kaplan book questions are a lot easier than the real test, i only used it to review concepts and stuff like that.

The DAT Destroyer and bootcamp is what helped me the most.

Also, because QR and RC are pretty low im considering in re-taking. What do you guys think? Thanks everyone! I could really use some feedback!

Your AA and TS are definitely good enough, and a 19 and 18 aren't killers. I wouldn't recommend a retake, provided that your GPA is average to above-average.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I guess it's all about that application now. I feel a bit better now haha

Also, are my scores considered average? Like, this was my first test and I haven't looked at what was considered an attention getter and stuff like that.

Thanks

I'm not going to lie to you, but during the school year i did not study much. Maybe a few hours on some weekends. I had a busy schedule too because with school and I'm also an athlete for my college so i travel a lot.

I did not start intense studying until school ended. Which gave me 4 weeks to study. Knowing that i spent everyday at the library for about 5-6 hours. The best tip i can give you is to practice, practice, practice. Don't worry so much on reading and memorizing stuff from the kaplan blue book. The questions that you get wrong on practice tests are the best study guide because they tell you what you are weak on and if you go back to understand how to get the answer and remember how you got it then that's probably the best way to study.

Also make a study guide on questions you have trouble on.

The way i prepared for bio was by doing as many practice questions that i could get a hold of and making a study sheet of terms i did not know (via getting a question wrong). By each study day my study sheet grew larger and every new day before i start studying i would review that study sheet before doing more practice problems.

Eventually you'll see a lot of common terms that old DAT tests uses. A good way to answer questions in the Bio part is process of elimination. If you understand what the question is asking you and when you look at the answers you should be able to deduce what answers just do not belong.

Another tip... the DAT will not ask you questions that is very specific for biology. Most of the questions are very general. For example: All of these answers below is a chordate. Which is the exception? The answers will have the scientific names of different organisms.

Basically for bio you shouldn't be forced to think very much to answer the questions, it's either you know the answer or you don't. If you don't know the answer, eliminate the answers that just do not belong.
