Hi guys, I took my DAT 5 days ago and wanted to share my experience since those breakdowns really gave me sense of hope when I was studying for the exam.

This is what I got..

Bio/Gchem/OChem/RC/QR/TS/AA

22/23/30/17/16/25/22

Please ignore any grammar/writing mistakes because I’m an international student and I’ve been practicing English for the past 4 years only🙂

Studying materials

-BIOLOGY

1- Cliff notes 3rd edition: To be honest, that’s all you need! I went over it twice (second time was a lot faster and ignored couple of easy sections)

2-DAT DESTROYER: After finishing Cliff notes, I tested myself with destroyer and to learn new materials. The book really gives you more information than you need but it is worth it.

3-DAT BOOTCAMP: Great resource, but I used it to test myself only (learned only couple of information that were new to me). If you don’t have time to do all the three materials, I would donate all my time in (DESTROYER and Cliff)

-GENERAL CHEMISTRY

1-DAT DESTROYER. I went over it twice and it is basically what you need to be fully prepared. Whoever says that their questions are hard, the questions that I got on my DAT were harder lol.

2-DAT BOOTCAMP. Their Gchem questions are on point! I remember getting two questions that were exactly the same in BC

-ORGANIC CHEMSITRY

Honestly, I didn’t spend a lot of time studying for it (total of 5-6 days) because I never had any problems with OChem when I took it college.

1-Used my old Ochem notes
2-DAT DESTROYER to learn new things
3-DAT BOOTCAMP to test myself

-PAT

Use only bootcamp and you will be golden. (I know I didn't post my score)😉

-READING COMPREHENSION

I did all bootcamp practice exams and was scoring around (15-18) except for one test I got 23 because the passages were about things I was really interested in.
I tried every method out there and it was pointless. I was really loosing hope with this section.

-QR

MY WORST NIGHTMARE! Ok so I’m really good at Trig/ algebra/calc 1 and 2 but I literality suck at basic math problems (rates/ ratios / word problems/ stat).

1-MATH DESTROYER. If you are terrible at basic math, this book will be your best friend! It is hard but definitely worth it.

2-DAT BOOTCAMP: a lot easier than DESTROYER but make sure you do all their comparison questions because they were most similar to the actual DAT.

ACTUAL EXAM

-BIO (22)

Nothing too detailed and way easier than BC. Unfortunately I lost marks on very simple questions which I totally regret now. (got a lot of genetics and physiology questions)

-Gchem (23)

Really WERIED calculation questions!! I’m really disappointed with this section because I know I can do a lot better than that. I marked the first 7 questions because didn’t know how to start them. I got really nervous that I literally lost my focus. It really affected my performance in this section. I lost some marks on silly things! I’m not trying to scare you guys with Gchem but really try to be calm ALL THE TIME.

-OChem (30)

Easy section except for on question that took me 2 min to answer.🙂

-PAT

Similar to BC but slightly easier. I didn’t practice angle ranking because I never got them right and it was pointless and didn’t want to waste my time, but I got really (easy to distinguish) angles in my exam. Everything else was easier.

-RC (17)

I got mixed of search and destroy and tone questions. two of the passages were very dense and long (15-17) paragraphs and the last one was very short and easy (only 10 paragraphs).

-QR (16)

I was actually shocked of how easy this section was! I know I got really bad score but I’m completely fine with it. When I started this section I was so tired I wanted to be done with it as soon as possible. My exam resembled MATH DESTROYER A LOT but only with their easy questions. I had no trig questions/ 7-10 comparison questions/ and probably around 2 algebra questions

I know RC and QR really did lower my AA but I’m happen with TS score except with GChem lol.

Whoever is taking the DAT, trust me it’s easier than you think. BC and Destroyer are meant to be difficult because it is preparing you for whatever the DAT throws at you. Try to stay calm as much as you can, you know your stuff and its all stored in your head. Take me for an example, I got really nervous in Gchem and totally ruined my grade.

Good luck to you all!😍

Now you're scaring me lol...

Grats! Nice scores, especially that ochem!

Great scores. That's quite spooky about gen chem. Was it things you had not been exposed to in Destroyer?

As I mentioned, the first 7 questions were very weird, including both calculations and conceptual. I panicked and got nervous so that really affected the rest of the questions. The rest were easy questions.

He didn't use Chads/Mikes and that's probably the reason there were some things that he never seen before. Anyways, he got 23 on it, so I'm assuming he got only like 5 or 4 questions wrong.

During spring semester , I went over my notes from Gchem classes that I took in college just to refresh the concepts. I didn't use chad videos because I read its outline (notes) from my friend and knew everything that was there. I messed up in this section because I was frustrated when I couldn't answer the questions from the start! When I came back to them some were very conceptual and required critical thinking and the others were weird that I had to pick any answer because I ran out of time.
Using Destroyer alone with your background in gchem classes in college will definitely get you above 20!

Congratulations on these amazing scores! DAT Beast was Destroyed again..Love that 30 in Orgo, that will really stand out when the dental schools get your scores. Your reading is a little off but they will take into consideration because you are an international student and that will not present a problem, your other scores more than compensate.

Thanks for sharing you DAT experience, it's let's students know to NEVER underestimate the DAT

Good luck

So far on all of the bootcamp tests for PAT I've gotten 6 20s and 3 19s... Am I going to be able to get over 20 on the real?? The angles are ridiculously hard on the last few...

I never took a full practice exam for PAT. I practiced each section individually without timer and doing all 150 questions each. But after reading a lot of breakdowns, you are in a pretty good shape🙂
in the DAT, I got really easy angles and I was kind of shocked when I saw how easy they were but don't underestimate the section. Do BC practice test for angles over over, you will find them easy at the end
Good luck:xf:
