You really don't have to go to classes during the 1st week. All they do is read the syllabus.

Most if not all of my classes go over the syllabus at the beginning of the first class but will start lecturing actual material before that class is over...

Yeah same with a few of my classes, but no real graded work should be assigned the first (and sometimes second) week of school since people are still dropping and registering for different courses. I'm just saying the workload is pretty minimal so enjoy it while it lasts hahah
