I just checked my email after a long day on my pulmonary inpatient rotation...and there it was!!! Temple wants to know which dates I would like to reserve for my PM&R interview. 🙂

Does anyone have any info/advice on this program? 😕

For the rest of you who have been checking ERAS every day (sometimes twice a day) as I have; don't fret. I keep reading how competitive PM&R is now and subsequent feelings of doubt had definitely settled in. My step 1 scores are in the low 200s, my clinical comments were excellent; but my grades were very average. Perhaps Temple is not in the top 10 in the country, and this may be my only interview, and I should have put more effort into getting higher scores my past 4 years. Nevertheless, I have a chance to shine despite my credentials of mediocrity. So be patient and GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the encouragement and congrats on the exciting news! I'll bet you felt pretty good after a long day of work and getting that e-mail!

I know it may be a no-brainer, but at least check scutwork.com and search the old SDN forums for any notes on Temple and other subsequent programs.

Here's to hoping we all start getting more invites...

congrats!! I want to ask all these questions that I know will feed into my own neuroses -- so I won't. But after hearing all the 'so competitive' talk, I'm a little nervous too. I have good scores on my boards nothing outrageous, but low 90s on both, i'm in the top 25% of my class and I have great clinical letters and comments. Unfortunately, I went to a foreign medical school so I'm a little concerned. Students from my school matched in PM&R last year at great programs, like Thomas Jefferson for example and they interviewed all over. I hope the same holds true for this year. 😳

Anyways congrats again!!

Congratulations! That must take a lot of the pressure off.

I'm so freaked out...just certifying my ERAS now! I've been done for a week but hedging on finalizing it because I'm terrified that there's a mistake on it that noone's caught. Hope its not too late...

You're definitely not too late. Seeing how most programs haven't sent out invites yet (and some programs may have not even downloaded any information yet!), you haven't really missed anything..

I also just heard from Temple regarding an interview and need advice. I could schedule my Temple interview now, but it'd be ideal if I could do all of my Philly interviews in the same week. I'm worried this wont be possible because a lot of programs don't even consider applications until after November 1st.

Anyone know a way around this, or have any advice on when I should schedule my interview for so that I can maximize the chance to do all of the Philly ones together? How many of the residents here had to go back to the same city multiple times for interviews? Lastly, how long do I have to decide on the date once I'm notified for an interview...a couple of days, a week, two weeks?

I know that's a lot of questions. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I had similar concerns regarding when to go. I took 3 days before replying and finally just chose a date at the end of November. I thought it would give me a chance to see if other interviews would be granted in the area, and I felt as though I seemed uninterested with each day that passed. However, the reply email stated "thanks for responding quickly" and "I'll PENCIL you in for that date". I guess they expect us to change dates to match our interviews; at least that's how I interpreted the message.

A small piece of advice to you applicants this year: do NOT wait to pick dates. I got the same advice and chose to ignore it for a couple programs and ended up chosing from a much smaller choice of dates. Pick some date, any date that seemd reasonable and then at least you are locked in for a time-you can always change it later. Especially as the time approaches programs will get cancellations and things can open up. Also-if you take a long time to reply you are revealing a potential lack of interest in their program.

To the OP: congrats on the Temple interview-I really liked their program and ranked them high-good luck and leave early for the interview-philly traffic can be rough.
