Hmmm... during my interview, the students I was speaking to told me "definitely come to the second look weekend if you are accepted." "It's what sold the school for me." yadda yadda yadda... These were students I spoke to during the "rap session for minority students" (yes, that's ACTUALLY what it was called...). Is it possible there's a second look weekend just for minority students?? Don't know how I feel about that if that's true...

btw, thanks SO MUCH for the info. I'm seriously considering Case for next year, and this post helped a lot...

yes, I believe that is right. As far as I know, there was no second look weekend last year available to the whole accepted class.

cclcm is such a great program! you really should have applied to it. i guess the second best program would be the university one...ha. jk

Considering your MD diploma will say Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine... 🙂

does a safer area necessarily mean better housing (renovated, cleaner, more spacious, etc.)

safety is not really an issue for me but i do care about the inside of the house/apartment itself.

Areas that are not safer, and therefore cheaper generally are also not quite as nice. That's a good rule of thumb. This is not to say that the areas in Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights are oppulent (though they could be if you had the dosh). Most students live in basic apartment housing - clean and comfortable but not particularly lush.

that's absolutely hilarious. you'd think that people in academia would be observant of the characteristic tight-sphinctered political correctness, but some people...i mean, didn't anyone at cwru with a sense of irony/humor see that and say, "um, guys, maybe we could call it something else."?? wow.

good stuff, that is.

lets bring this thread back to life! im very excited for my interview on the 4th...........im interviewing with Dr. Kirby, ive seen that he is an awesome interviewer so im double excited!!! 😍 😍 :luck:

hows the weather in cleveland now? 😱

Bah, Case Western Reserve Univesity College of Medicine. Sure it's a big name, but it hardly rolls off the tongue smoothly. It's work just to brag about it. And it snows constantly in Cleveland from November to March. :scared:

You all should come down to Ohio State. 😀

wends, i loved cclcm. though its a different animal than case is....i can only say that case seems like a great place to go to school too. ive looked up the weather reports the past couple of days since its been snowing in NYC...ive come to learn that no matter how cold it is hear in NYC...its much colder in cleveland...so bundle up! oh good luck.

Believe me! you will love the place. 🙂 The dean of admissions is soooooo nice and the people in the adcom look beyond the numbers. Unfortunately, my interview did not go very well ( I am a non traditional student and the first question I was asked was " so, do you think your old profession is not good enough for you.......? 🙁 After that I totally blanked out! 🙁 ) But I heard Dr. Kirby is a very good interviewer. GOOD LUCK!! And BTW I like the way you get excited 😀 Coming to weather, we had a pretty bad winter strom couple of days ago but this weekend temperatures are in mid 40's (don't know much about next week). Once again Good luck! :luck: :luck:

Does anyone have any idea of when the next adcom meeting is? I loved Case!
