Why is 2,3,3-trimethyl-4-isopropylheptane not named the other way around? (4-isopropyl-2,3,3-trimethylheptane)

Isn't isopropyl before methyl?
I've taken a DAT almost 2 months ago now and I can't seem to answer this question...
So help 🙂

pretty sure you count the iso but not the tri, di, etc... so I agree it should be 4-isopropyl-2,3,3-trimethylheptane

Yup, this is correct.

You ignore all prefixes except iso- and cyclo-

" List substituents in alphabetical order. Ignore numerical prefixes and hyphenated prefixes
(tert- and sec-), but no iso- and cyclo-." From chad's outlines so isopropyl should come first
