My friend's chances ?
Started by shareshab
It's not too late for your friend to retake the DAT and increase his chances a heck of alot more.
one of my close friend ask me to ask you guys what do u think about his scores and will he get any interview he is applying to 21 schools :
TS:18 AA:17 PAT:16 (bio :19 , orgo :18 , general 18 , reading :14 , math :16 )
gpa:4 science :3.98
And your friend has an aversion to SDN? It is safe to say that he/she did not major in math. The sci gpa is way out of sync with the DAT. A case of grade inflation?

Where did he go to undergrad? Sometimes I wonder when someone has an amazing GPA but not so good DAT scores, is it because of a less competitive undergraduate school. It could also be that the person just isn't good at taking standardized tests well, or the person did not prepare adequately. Still interesting to think about.

Did this person go to a community college or a 4 year university? What was his major? The RC does not even meet the minimum requirements at D-schools. RC is heavily weighed by adcoms. This person should most certainly retake. Also, a 3.98 sGPA from a 4-year university and moderate studying should yield at the very least a 19 AA. This person either completely did not study, underestimated the DAT, or graduated from the University of Phoenix-Wasilla campus.

RC counts for a lot. He must retake the test and get it up to at least a 18. Is he applying to Meharry? If not, he should definitely apply there.

Your chances aren't very good with that Rc score...
how can someone have a 4.0 but have a 3.98 sgpa
lol i was thinking the same thing.how can someone have a 4.0 but have a 3.98 sgpa
you def need to explain your "friend's" undergrad history for SDN to give you the right answer.
if he went to a reputable 4-year institution, he prob just needs to retake the DAT.
if he went to CC or an online college, he might be in trouble

Maybe their university lets students receive A+s? A+ is a 4.33 or something like that right? I wish my university had A+s...

Your friend really needs to retake the DAT for the reading section. One of the SDN forums talks about how CWRU was telling applicants to retake the DAT if they scored below 19 on the reading. Your friend must have had just a bad testing day or something.
I know when I took my DAT, I only had taken only 16 semester hours of science credits (Go Physics!) and last time I had a biology class was in 9th grade, 15 years ago, and I scored a 16 in bio, 16 is LOW.... 14 is just well... in RC in 2009 a 14 was 4.3-8.7 cumulative percentile.

I wish your friend the best though! With a 4.0, I know they can do better on the reading!👍

RC is very low might get weeded out by couple univ without even looking at the rest of the ap.
Chem& orgo: on the border
Bio : good
QR: ok little low
Pat: Low
This def. requires a retake. Because the scores are very low which lowers the chances of dental school dramatically. But the good part is all you need to is improve 1-2 points in sciences and every other subject by 2-3 points you should be good. RC the cut off is 18. Try to aim at that do a lot of practice.
