Hello, I hope you are doing well.

My girlfriend is currently applying for a Master's in Social Worker program and has been working on her personal statement for several weeks. She really wants to get into the graduate school and is rather stressed out about the possibility of not being accepted. She is a great person and counselor and I think she truly deserves this.

Would anyone be kind enough to help her proofread the personal statement? I have already gone through the essay for grammar errors, but I just want to give her the best chance possible. This is her first time applying for graduate school, so her experience in personal statements is limited (I have applied in the past, but was shot down, unfortunately).

If you can be of assistance, especially in regards to providing tips and expertise, please let me know.

Thank you very much,
Vic

I would be happy to read it through as I have done many PS throughout my Academic Career. If not, here some helpful pointers.

Tailor your letter to each program. Remember the letter can vary immensely depending on which program you are applying to.

Stand apart. Make them remember you by something you wrote or have done in your lifetime. (My final paragraph is my most important. People remember Beginnings and Ends)

Note the importance of research and empirically based treatments in the field of Psyc. or counseling.

Talk about being a culturally competent clinician, meaning, we do not impose our own values onto others. We accept and learn to work with patients of different cultures who may have different norms or standards.

Talk about personal goals where you see yourself working or volunteering.

Hope this helps
