I will take a grade 12 level physics (not AP). There are only 4 tests in our course.

First test covers: Kinematics, Vector and Projectiles, Forces, Momentum and Impulse, Energy, Work, Power, Equilibrium

Second test covers: Kinematics, Vector and Projectiles, Forces, Momentum and Impulse, Energy, Work, Power, Equilibrium + Equilibrium part 2, Circular Motion, Gravitation, Electrostatics Theory, Electrical Circuits.

Third test covers: Kinematics, Vector and Projectiles, Forces, Momentum and Impulse, Energy, Work, Power, Equilibrium + Equilibrium part 2, Circular Motion, Gravitation, Electrostatics Theory, Electrical Circuits + Electrical circuits part 2, electromagnetism, electromagnetisms part 2, induction and flux.

Test 4(Big Final): Comprehensive final government exam similar to test 3. Testing everything.

Grading:
3 tests:40% of total mark
1 Big Final:40% of total mark
Lab report: 20% of tatal mark

I heard the teacher teaching this course taught college or some rumor like that.

Does the physics course in college like this ?

Three test worth 80% percent of course marks. Wow, I never got a course like this in high school. 😱 Lab marks worth 20%

There isnt some set formula for college courses. Professors will teach however they want. They just have to cover certain topics that meet a regular physics course rubric. Youll have professors that never give cumulative tests (thats including finals), youll have teachers that give tests on separate subjects leading up to one big cumulative final, and then youll have something like your course where every test is cumulative (somethin i think is pretty rare. ive never actually had a course like this. well sort of, but not really) One thing that will probably hold true is that for each new test the material that will be more heavily emphasized is the NEW material. But either way, taking the final should be a piece of cake since you have been reviewing everything ALL semester.

For the most part in college your grade consists of 90% exams and if you are lucky 10% quizzes/lab/hw. A lot of my classes are pure exams though. That's how it should be in my opinion, homework just fluffs your grade.

Gotta love homework.

Remember in this day and age your teacher cannot fail everyone.

Your class will probably be curved in such a way that the average grade ends up in the C to B range even if that average grade is a 50. So work hard and learn as much as you can despite the suckiness of general physics. Your not going to do well on these test in the sense that you might do well on a biology or history multiple choice test. Show your work and don't lose any points in the fuffy areas like homework and lab write ups and you'll be ok

Or just study and do well in the class...it's high school physics. It isn't really a big deal.
