My Impression on the Style of Step 1 questions

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thank you for this. Did you feel that a good portion were thought provoking questions (i.e., remember the mechanism to figure out the answer) or straight forward knowledge based (i.e., you either know the random fact or you do not)? Maybe the latter is more required in your Type 3a/3b questions.

Thanks so much, this was immensely helpful! I'm taking the beast soon in a couple weeks, what do suggest regarding prep for these types of questions?

This is probably the most helpful post I've come across so far, after having read through a trillion posts over a dozen forums!
Thank you so much! May God Bless you with an awesome score 🙂
By the way, what's the answer of qs 3a?

Besides First Aid like the back of your hand - I think working on elimination. When you do practice questions, not only pick what's right, but in a lawyer-like fashion, prove why the wrong answers are wrong. That'll help you immensely with the vague stuff they'll throw at you. I suspect I missed a fair amount semi-panicking instead of doing that.

Thank you! I was motivated to write this because I couldn't find any post that gave the "feel" of the exam to my satisfaction. I'm glad it can help you.

What IS THE ANSWER to 3a??!

This is really helpful, thank you! Did you feel like the questions were longer than NBME questions since they changed it to 40 questions to a block?

So would you say that overall the NBME's are more representative than UWorld? I'm getting the impression that they are, but that the real thing is rather harder.
