My last thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Problem is that the debate was not constructive nor was it unique or original. You've been allowed to carry on your debate in the Residency Forum for what? 5 pages? I hardly call that intolerant on our part. We have had multiple discussions in the Mod Forum about the issue and under the guise of not wanting to seem biased, have left these threads open, despite calls from users to close them. You've been a member for a month with dozens of posts and only now has your behavior resulted in a temporary ban.

We don't take these actions lightly; it is a serious decision to ban or sanction a member. However, freedom of speech does not apply here. We have certain rules and expectations of behavior which we prefer to see followed. It has created an general atmosphere of acceptance and intellectual discourse I don't think you'll find at other medically related sites. If you wish to have freedom from rules, I suggest posting either in the Drs Lounge forums or elsewhere. Some might chafe under the "oppression" here at SDN but this is the tone that we prefer and as the Mods/Administrators have the right to decide what is and is not acceptable here. I'm sure you'll agree with that.

You've also been sent multiple PMs regarding this behavior, nearly all of your posts deal with this one issue and when Mods receive numerous requests for "something to be done" (and not all from FMGs), we must adhere to the SDN TOS which I believe we have done. Users who visit the site with one intent and purpose are generally treated the same; please don't take it personally. The disrespect you have shown to your fellow colleagues is not welcomed here at SDN. Intelligent and professional discussion is. Most of us have agreed that these threads no longer serve any useful purpose and only seem to provoke the ugly underbelly of some practitioners of US medicine.

Normally I prefer to discuss this in a private manner, but since you have taken it public, my response to you will be as well.

Addendum: I see you've removed your post and your threat to leave SDN. Oh well...the above was in response to that and your cries of foul over my "violation" of your free speech. FYI: doesn't exist in a private community.

Booyah! Mods regulating! 👍

Well if free speech doesn't exist, then are we supposed to say whatever you want to hear?

Kimberli - I suggest you go back and look at the results of the polls I posted. You will see, much to your surprise I'm sure, that the vast majority of AMG Pre-Allopathic students and also Allopathic residents agree with my points of view. There's no denying it - go look.

So if a bunch of folks on the International forum send you a message asking you to ban me, do you succumb to this? This is an example of spineless leadership and gutless moderation.

In keeping with expectations, you will probably ban me. Go ahead I don't care. I've found that this forum is not the best one to address my questions on IMGs vs AMGs.

Its a pity coz I think that SDN has plenty of great people and useful info. Its just that controversy and creative discussion are stifled.

As a matter of fact, it has not been IMGs who are objecting to your posts but rather other American students who are embarassed that you are representing them.

I have no doubt that perceptions such as your exist, but that does not mean that a) your polls are valid representations of the general public or medical profession b) provide us with new information and/or c) lead to valuable discourse on the subject. Most resident and attending physicians do not share your views and work side by side quite well with foreign trained physicians - both US and foreign born. The attitude of American superiority is offensive to many here, and is generally the property of pre-meds and med students who have not had the opportunity to work with a number of IMG/FMGs.

We welcome professional discussions on almost all topics here. But there has to be some regulation of appropriate topics (ie, moving non-medically related topics to the Lounge or Everyone Forums), and attacks against individual users or groups of users are simply not allowed. This is not my personal prefernece and frankly you have been warned on a number of occasions, have apparently registered at SDN simply to present your views on this single topic and persist in your diatribes against foreign trained physicians. And for this, yes you will be banned as all of these represent an SDN TOS violation.

It's no surprise that your "polls" get the results you want. You're placing a poll in an American medical website asking a majority of Americans if they think their medicine is better. I'm shocked that the majority say "yes." I wonder what would happen if a Chinese student posted a poll in a Chinese medical website asking a majority of Chinese physicians if they thought their medicine was better. Wild, wild guess: I think most would say "yes."

As K. Cox said, your polls aren't a true representation of the feelings of American students (otherwise, why would American students request your banning?).

As far as your complaints about free speech, that doesn't necessarily apply in this forum. It's the same as if I invited you to my house and then you started to insult me and my family. I would ask you to leave my house. You can still say what you want, but I don't want you to say it in my house. The same with SDN. SDN is the moderator's "house" and you can have whatever opinion you want to have, but if the mods don't want you to express that opinion in their "house" then they can ask you to leave.

I apologize for replying to your message without you being able to answer me back. I'm sure that sucks, but life does go on. Move on, study hard and hopefully in the future you'll work with foreign graduates and realize their worth and contribution to the American medical system.
