A Theme.

My New Year's Resolution is to try really really hard to not hate patients so much for being complete blithering idiots who can't take care of even of the smallest aspects of their own health and care.

Also, I don't think a football is a very good Christmas present.

(Can’t be bothered to accept the free transportation to outpatient dialysis 3x/week) + (demands the now emergent dialysis they also won’t pay for at 3am on a sunday) = test of new years resolution

Stay strong fox

I don't do new year's resolutions. Most people who make new year's resolutions never keep them.

Mine is to stay working hard at the gym, grow my side business, save for a Tesla and be the best dad I can be (hard to quantify that one).

Read a book a month for fun (have found the best way to complete this is on tape at the gym - so getting back on that horse too)

Easy, I'm going to keep making gains in the gym, smoke more cigars, and keep eating sour candy and drinking double shot venti dark roasts on shift.

Actually, I've just got one resolution and that's to keep working less for 2019. I've spent the last few months working 2-3 fewer shifts and damn...I can't tell you how much better I feel.

A great resolution! I find it helps to remind myself that many of my patients don't have medical knowledge & act out of ignorance/fear rather than spite.

Last night, my (very smart, very capable, totally non-medical) brother in law slipped on the ice & hurt his hip. When I offered an ibuprofen he said "I can't take that, I'm drinking" (yep, we'd been drinking whiskey while standing next to a bonfire on a frozen lake, happy new year).

Instead of arguing with him I just internally shook my head & thought of all the patients that come to the ED without having tried anything for their pain because they didn't know if it was safe, or they "didn't want to mask the symptoms".

Drink more tea than wine.
Same as last year (and I was successful. If you look at the big picture averages...)

Work less.
Same as last year... not sure how successful I was, considering how many days I actually worked, but I worked a lot LESS in the ED, which was really the goal.

Reduce the amt of mobile phone game playing. I play too much.
Work less. I work too much and find myself grumpy at work.
Just get rid of my remaining $45K debt.
Try to be a better hubby and father.

Saw this and thought, ‘Sadly, yes.’

Get in at least 1 hike/week average. With intern year looming we'll see how that goes...

My New Year's resolution is to stick to a strict paleo diet and do intermittent fasting 5 of 7 days a week. I am NOT going to be the token bloated obese intern of my EM class. #72daysleft
