Biology
First let me state that I am one zoology course away from having all of my Bio courses complete for my undergrad. The test was somewhat brutal for the Bio section. I got the picture of the cell question, no birth control question, but I did get this random question where they tried to illustrate the chromosomes with xyz etc. It was REALLY weird. I had NO IDEA what the question or the picture was trying to talk about. My Bio concentration is in cell and molecular, so I rocked all of those questions, but there was a TON of evolution, taxonomy, etc on mine. I was SHOCKED to see SOOOO much. Another side note, I have not taken anatomy/physiology and I seemed to get quite a bit of these. Not directly, but the question may be a cell molecular question that I knew, but the answers were locations in the body (a physiology question). This frustrated me. I used Kaplans Big book, OAT Achiever, and OAT Destroyer for this section).
Gen Chem
I did fairly well on this, but not as good as I thought. Still scored a good score (imo). The test was not as random, but it still focused on a lot of quick calculations. I didn't get as many calculations as I hoped for (i love the calculations in gen chem). I used OAT Achiever and Chad's Videos for this section.
Oranic Chem
I didn't do as well as I was scoring on practice test, but I did do well. This is one of my best subjects. I had a LOT of reactions, but it pretty much matched the practice tests etc that I was taking. I used Chads Videos, OAT Achiever, and my old notes from Ochem I and II.

I'm not sure what happened in this section, but as I was doing it, I felt like I was ROCKING it. The three passages were pretty easy (komodo dragon, asteroids/comets, and some other one). I finished this section with 10 minutes to go and had time to go over a lot of questions.
Physics
Did well, there wasn't that many calculations though. I'd say 1/3 of them were calcs, the rest were conceptual. I used Chads Videos and my old notes to study this section.

I owe my score to this section to Math Destroyer. I didn't study it to the extent that I should have, but I worked through 7 of the 12 tests in there. I didn't speed through it, but took my time, learned how to do it, etc. I actually ran out of time with 3 questions left (2 I had marked) and then I guessed on the final question. Still, Math Destroyer is the BEST!!!!!! I felt as if there was not a SINGLE question on there that I hadn't seen at some point in Destroyer. That doesn't mean that I knew how to do every singe one of them, but I felt pretty good about this (this section was definitly my weak link coming into the test).
Overall, I thought the materials that I used were great. I would change one thing if I had to do over again and that would be to go through the BIO book (campbells i think, or barrons, i forget), that the dental students use to study for the DAT. I also wish that I had taken A&P as well, because I had to teach myself a TON of this. Overall, it was a decent experience and I thought I did ok. Not as well as I had hoped, but decent. I left my scores in my office at school, otherwise I would post my individual section scores. AA was a 300 and TS was a 300. I also got an interview that I'm ecstatic about!! I have a 3.29 GPA with 10 years of experience working in various Optometry offices. For about 3/4 of my undergrad, I worked full time (48 hours) while going to school full time. By the end of this semester, I will have completed my 4yr degree in 3.5 years. I want to thank SDN for a LOT. I have learned so much about this field and the process as I began my journey almost 4 years ago. I also want to say that this is not my first time taking the OAT and that it IS possible to do well. I didn't do well the first time, but with hard work.....it paid off. That's easier said then done, but I have a 1 year old child, and was still able to fit it in and prioritize. If I can do it, you can too!
