I've just taken the OAT this morning, and here is my score:

QR:340
RC: 230
Bio: 320
GC:340
OC:390
Phys: 370

TS: 360
AA: 330

GPA: 3.85 (i'm a junior, not graduate yet)

I'm in a total disappointment and wondering if I should take the test again due to the super low RC score. I'm applying to ICO. You guys think they'll take that? Anyone was in simmilar situation that got in, please let me know!! Please comment!! Thanks

I went to ICO yesterday for a counseling session and they told me that every score must be above a 300. So, I would recommend calling them up and asking them.

I got really similar scores to you except I got a 280 in RC. I'm about to apply to Nova and SCO so I guess I can't be of much help. A 230 is really low though, you miiight want to reconsider taking it. If ICO is your only choice, contact them and that's all you can do.

230 in RC? It really shouldn't even be a question about retaking it or not. Unless you got 99% or better in university/college english courses, you MUST retake the OAT.

I think most schools would require a 300 minimum on all the subjects, but yes, you should probably call ICO to see what they think. I would also recommend looking into applying to more than just one school since I have heard from various school advisors that the admission committee will think that you're more set on optometry if you applied to more than one school. The reason the advisor gave was that by applying to multiple ones (but not every single one...), you would make yourself seem like someone who's taken a lot of time researching into each school and picked the ones that matched your preferences the best. Hope this helps.

Do the admission committee know how many schools I'm applying to if I don't tell them? And how do they know??

If you're going to interview with ICO, they will ask you (before your interview):

Which other schools have you applied to?
Have you been accepted to any?
Which school is your first choice?

They wouldn't know if you lie right? haha. Any way they can double check that?

I got 250 on my RC but got accepted to SUNY and NOVA. I was invited to interviews at ICO and NECO but I didn't go. So I think it depends on schools. Most schools do not set the min requirement unless you are applying to california schools.

What was your academic average and GPA if you don't mind sharing. Great help!!!

Why would you lie? That's pretty shady and (if caught) could lead the school to believe that your professional career as an OD will be reflective of your life now.

They could call the other schools and ask. I'm sure there are conversations between institutions.
