OK, so I've been waiting almost two years to finally post my pre dental experience. First of all, by no means am i good student. I do not have 4.0, 3.6 or even a 3.4 gpa. My DAT stats are below average in my opinion (AA20 TS20 PAT 17 ). With that said i do believe that there is hope for students that don't "over achieve." I spent approximately 3 weeks studying for the DAT. I used the DAT destroyer, Math destroyer, crack dat pat, topscore, dat bootcamp and ferali's notes. Best notes i have ever came across. I read those notes thrice. Its a complete compilation of the biology topics. Honestly almost every question could have been answered with just those notes with the exception of only two questions. Had I not completely choked for the first ten minutes of the exam, I'm pretty sure my biology score would have been significantly higher. For the chem section i watched chad videos once. I probably should have watched it multiple times but I couldn't bring myself to do it again. My PAT section and math sections were the weakest. I used crack dat pat which I believe did a poor job of representing the actual test. The program is considerably easier than the actual exam. I felt so underprepared upon coming across my first question in the pat section. This lead to me becoming flustered and the outcome was clearly terrible. I spent a considerable amount of time in the exam trying to regroup my thoughts. My math section was also poor due to my lack of preparation. I did not work efficiently enough to really finish this section. I probably guessed about 10 questions and and left 3 unanswered. I was not too worried about the PAT and math because i have read that many schools don't value those sections as highly as the other sections. Anyways the moral of the story is to try to relax throughout the exam. Really take the time to prepare yourself mentally. You've spent the last 2 to four years preparing for this exam. You know the material already. Your regular course exams are significantly harder than the dat. Try not to be overwhelmed by the exam. Expose yourself to as many questions as possible. At the end of the day, they can ask you so many questions and no more. Eventually they are all the same questions you have seen already, just worded differently. Good luck to all who's taking the dat.

I submitted my complete application in late july to early aug. I applied to 9 schools and received 6 interviews. I focused mainly on schools within the New England region. I attended all 6. I received 3 acceptances, 2 waitlists and still waiting to hear back from another school. I received one rejection from the remaining three. I am pretty sure i'll be rejected from the other two as well, because i did not fulfill the requirements. Nevertheless they were my safety net schools, so it doesn't matter ( I know, how ironic). Anyways good luck to all. Any questions feel free to send me a message. Don't lose hope of your dreams. And never give up. Even if there is a slim chance of you achieving them, pursue your dreams. At the end of the day the worst thing that can happen is a rejection . At least you tried. You can't get accepted to schools you don't apply to. Good luck

PS I had like 200+ hours of voluntary work and shadowing. I had a regular bio degree.

Hey congrats on the acceptances, curious to know your GPA and which schools accepted you!

Since when is a 20 AA below average..........? 😵

its below what you want it to be and slightly below average of accepted students at many schools. You should never feel good about applying with stats right at the average, so I agree with that accessment

Thanks. I had a 3.2+ gpa. I received interviews from:
une(accepted)
bu(accepted)
tufts(accepted)
nyu(accepted)
columbia (accepted)
nova(waitlisted)

Its slightly above average. You could say its next step above bare minimum.
