My question regarding "top schools"

I've been thinking more and more lately about rankings in schools, specifically in medical school. We could generalize this to ask the question, are you really getting less of an education at even a community college vs. an Ivy? By educational standards, you are still fully equipped to perform the job you are required to.

This is even moreso with medical school. I heard an old joke once, what do you call one who graduates last in his class at the lowest ranked medical school? A doctor. By the AMA, you are still considered fit to practice medicine. Is it personal gain? I guess the argument could be made that the better your medical school, the better hospital you will work at and possibly make more.

Well they have that teaching hospital, Princeton-Plainsboro, but I hear they're shutting down after this season.
