I am including a new research experience on my ERAS that I have just started. The project may change directions in a couple of months mainly depending on data collection (we wont know until I've collected all the data for another two months). If it changes, I'll still be working for the same professor and at the same department, but doing a different project.

Should I exclude it from ERAS because of this future possibility, or can I send updates to school to let them know of the change (if it happens). Is this going to look bad?

Go ahead and include it. And there's no need to change or update in the future unless someone specifically asks about the results. Research is very fluid and the direction of projects changes constantly. If you knew the results before you started, there wouldn't be any reason to do it.
