I was originally only going to apply to 10-15 schools. But then I took my DAT. My RC is terrible (could be a cutoff), and my PAT is "borderline" in my opinion. So I've now upped this number to a whopping 23 schools in an attempt to maximize my chances of an acceptance somewhere.

I know that some of these schools are stretches, but what I did was make a big spreadsheet of all the schools that I could theoretically apply to. I crossed out all of the schools that required things like anatomy or zoology, because I never took those in undergrad. Then I obviously removed in state only. Then I removed schools that are just plain silly to apply to, such as Harvard, Columbia, etc. What I was left with was a list of about 28 schools. I figured now that my RC and PAT are iffy, I might as well apply to most of them.

Here are my stats, followed by the schools.

-MA Resident
-Bio Major
-3.68 cumulative
-3.62 BCP
-110 hours of shadowing
-Decent extra curriculars, nothing to write home about

DAT
PA - 18 👎
QR - 19
RC - 17 👎👎
Bio - 22
GC - 24
OC - 21

TS - 22
AA - 21

The Schools
Western University
Nova
University of Iowa
University of Louisville
University of Maryland
University of Michigan
University of Detroit Mercy
University of Minnesota
Creighton University
University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ
Case Western
University of Pittsburgh
Temple
University of Tennessee
Virginia Commonwealth
University of Washington
The University of Colorado
University of Connecticut (#1, but probably don't have a chance now because of reading)
Boston University
Tufts University
Stony Brook University
New York University
University of Buffalo

So yeah, that's about it. I still can't get over my RC score, but there's nothing I can do now but just hope I guess. Also, for those of you that didn't see my other thread, I do realize that many people get "SDNitis", but I feel this to be warranted considering many schools consider RC "very important". Are any of these schools of the "you're stupid to apply there" variety, given my situation? Money isn't an issue, I'm willing to pay more to maximize the chances.

Sigh. Thanks for the input everyone.

I did my RC 17 as well on my 1st attempt, but I improved to 21 on my 2nd run.I think you should contact admission office directly about your score. If they don't care about it, you will have good chance to get in since your AA is 21 and TS is 22

Washington is a long shot. They only take a few OOS and most of them are WICHE students.

Those stats are fine, you will get in somewhere

You have really good stats. I think you will be okay if you narrow down your list to around 15 schools. I'm not sure if you applied late, but if you did, 15 is good. If you applied early, 12-13 would be fine. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip on Washington! And yes, I've essentially applied late because I took my DAT last Thursday, and schools won't have the scores for a couple more weeks.

Any other thoughts from anyone?

EXCELLENT BCP. you should be set for schools with the cut off for RC at 17. Some may be 18. But I think that your AA,TS go well with your BCP and overall. GOOD LUCK. I wish i had a BCP like that.

i don't think you need to apply to that many b/c even with that rc you're an above average applicant.
you could get rid of umdnj and stony brook though since you're oos.
(stony brook is ridic difficult to get into for oos)

You will for sure get several interviews and if those go well will get in somewhere! I bet UConn is still a good option.

SUNY and Buffalo might be a long shot since they like in-staters and have small class sizes.
Gosh, if you just retook the DAT and got a higher RC you would be so golden. You can easily raise your PAT using CrackPAT and from what I've heard the "search-and-destroy" technique for reading really helps. Although I just read the passages and then answered the questions. LSU, WVU, Howard, UNLV?

The problem is that I was averaging 21/22 on CDP, and thought I had mastered S&D. The real PAT was harder, and S&D was not possible. Every other question was tone based. I can't retake until November and am pretty much SOL for this cycle on raising any scores, nor do I want to re-take if I don't have to.

Howard takes mostly URMs and wants 18s across the board now.

🙁

If you applied to everywhere on your list, I'd say you'll get at the very very least 5 interviews no matter what.

So just nail the interviews when they show up 😉
