Hi Sdners
Just took my DAT today for the first time and I am not super excited about my scores because I know how much I put into this and felt I could do better🙁. A little Background about me graduated in 2013 with a BS in biology and a G.P.A of 3.9. Have a lot of volunteer and research hours and will start shadowing soon. Any way here are my scores.
BIO 22
GCHEM 22
OCHEM 18
RC 19
PAT 18
QR 16 👎 ( I was so shocked because I thought I did better, guess I thought wrong)
TS 20 AA 19

I don't know what to do about these scores, I really want to apply in this cycle. I'm too scared to retake and risk getting a lower score in my sciences. is this worth the shot or should I just go ahead and retake , so confuse.

In the numbers area, I think you GPA can sufficiently balance your weakness in your DAT scores. If time allows, you should take the exam again and try to get above 20 on everything.
Recommendation letters, personal statement, shadowing experiences are also valuable experiences to improve your status. Applying early is essential.

If you want to get into good schools and possibly earn scholarships(which is possible with your GPA), study hard and retake. Even the science score you are afraid of lowering isn't great. The fear of scoring lower in a test that you can improve by studying for few months will seriously hold you back after all the effort you put into your grades for the last 4 years.

Good TS score and dental schools usually doesn't value QR score as much as others. I'd say if you want to re-take, then go for it! But with your GPA, you should still get interviews without a problem.

Wow, these are great scores. I work with a lot of students during the year and many would be elated with these scores. You don't need a 30 to get into dental school and your 3.9 GPA speaks for itself. You are a good student who excelled in your college courses. I guess you could retake it and get a higher score, now that you know what to expect. If you are looking to be accepted at a certain dental school it would be best to contact them directly with your stats.

Most schools give you a break on the QR and PAT, they look strongly at the science and reading scores and you did very nicely, your 22's offset the 18 in Orgo.

Wishing you the very best and please keep us posted throughout your journey.

take care..Nancy
