Title says it all.

For as much as I complain about my gig; I have the best gig in these three or four counties.

PROS:

-IC/1099 gig and my general hourly rate is about 225/hr after RVUs and such. GOOD payor mix.
-Reasonable scheduling, although we're looking for a "nocturnist" if we can get one. For the past two months, I have gotten ALL of my request-offs granted, even for silly things like "I want to go watch spring training practice." Not even a game. Just practice. (I have a baseball problem and its not going to go away).
- Moderate acuity. Plenty of medically complicated senior citizens. We're hiring due to growth, not frustration and attrition.

CONS:

- CMG = TeamHealth. If that's a dealbreaker for you, please move on. They're way better than MECare, IMO.
- We have scribes, but they're awful and not getting any better. See my recent posts/threads on this. I do all my own charting, and use them solely to get me coffee/food/whatever. I have "fired" the scribes. My macros and autotexts are far faster, anyways.
- Our MLPs are a mixed bag. There are 1-2 that "need attention". They have been getting better... but reading their charts is like reading cave drawings. Not even hieroglyphs... Cave drawings. Oh, and they love the scribes, so their charting is twice as bad.

PM me if you're interested in the Tampa area.

Not more than a good FT doc is worth to me. Our group of docs is freaking great. Our volume is outta siiiight this year, and (like my baseball problem) it's not going away.

I can't tell if that's a good hourly, seems a little low. Conversely, I don't know the average in an area like Tampa

It is appropriate pay for the area and TeamHealth is definitely better than Emcare in Florida at least. I’m guessing he’s having to cope with snowbird as most shops in central and south Florida do. Which hospital are you at curiously? I live in Clearwater part time and know the area.

Night differential? What EMR? Do you have Dragon? Do you see PA pts or just sign their charts?

EMR is Cerner + Dragon.
Base is 185 days/200 nights. RVU bonus is good.
Feel free to see any and all PA patients you want, but you at least have to sign their charts.

What is the lowest RVU bonus you have received? Highest? Is there time to see all the PA patients, or in reality do you just have to sign their charts? Who reviews PA charts?

No idea what lowest/highest is, I'm not that OCD. See above for my average.
No, you can't see all the PA patients. No, you shouldn't. Sign the charts you review.

Thanks for the info! Love Florida!

Sorry, I should have clarified- what I was more interested in was the average take home for days vs nights. I assume you do a mix, so $225 is presumably an overall average.

Thanks for the info!

Technically, I should add, for it legally to be a 1099 gig where you don't get bennies, you have to be allowed to schedule yourself. I realize the reality may vary, but legally they should be giving you whatever schedule you want or they need to provide benefits and employee protections. This is probably why they are giving you time off when you ask- legally they know they have to.

Sounds like a decent gig, but it also sounds like Florida is crushing salaries via CMGs. Let's hope this pendulum swings...
