I would apply next year... with a GPA of 2.62 they won't even look at your application since pharmacy is very competitive regardless of pCAT.

That's not necessarily true, I've seen people who get in with lower gpa but with really high pcat's. I say go for it, you'll never know what would happen. Study for the pcat, work on your personal statement. Even if it doesn't happen this year, there's always next year. Good luck and don't stop trying!

Most schools have a minimum GPA for admittance, that 2.6 may be below or really close to that cutoff for a lot of schools. If it was me, I would retake classes that I made below a B in and get my GPA over a 3 before I applied.

I'll be a student this upcoming fall at Midwestern Downers Grove, With such a low gpa, you'll need to offset it with an extremely high PCAT, probably 99 if possible, but 95+ would be recommended... Also you need extracurricular activities under your belt, this will be extremely important... In addition, having great LORS would be good too... and definitely apply to the school the first chance you get as they are an rolling admission school. From previous experience (took me 2 tries to get in), if you want to stand a chance against the people with high GPA, high PCAT, you'll need to APPLY EARLY! I cannot stress this enough... Very very important. That way you won't be compared to others when their is such a small pool of applicants in the beginning... Good luck with your future endeavors! 👍

I'd say apply and apply early. A high PCAT can offset a low GPA, but it depends on the school. I know I was in the same situation. Took the PCAT two years ago, got an 82% with a 2.6 or 2.7 GPA but still got an interview. This year got a 96 on the PCAT with a 2.9 GPA and am now accepted to a great school. So apply, do well on the PCAT, you never know what will happen.

Hey everyone! I'm planning to apply to pharmacy schools for the Fall '09 semester and am registered for the PCAT on August 23rd. I just wanted feedback as to whether it would be wiser to apply this year or next year.

My current gpa is really low- 2.62 🙁 but I have pharmacy experience and 2 great ELORs and one OK ELORs

I will be a junior at Stony Brook University in NY so I can still apply next summer and raise my gpa need be.

My question is though, if I do amazing on my PCATs do I still have a good chance of getting in? My top choice is Midwestern University in Downers Grove but I'll go anywhere I get in.

Please let me know what you guys think any feedback or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks so much and good luck with those Fall '09 applications!
Omg! i'm in the SAME boat as you!! just believe in yourself!! i'm taking the august PCAT and giving it a shot this year but if not theres always next year! good luck and apply to as many schools as you can
