About to start my second year, thinking about Step 1. My main goal is to learn Path very, very well. I have a mandatory Kaplan class to take 7 weeks and then will assess from there but probally ill take 5 weeks after than and take Step 1
Study 6 days a week Monday-Saturday, 8 or 9 hours a day. Here will be my study aids

Comprehensive- First Aid
Qbank- USLME World
Path- Goljan RR, will use robbins question book and big robbins during class
Pharm- First aid but some say use a bit more?
Micro- First Aid
Physio- BRS or Rapid Review
Anatomy/embryo- First Aid
Cell bio- HY Cell and molecu '99 edition
Behavioral-First Aid, maybe some BRS which i will use with class
Biochem- First Aid, maybe some Rapid Review, really liked it with class
Neuro- HY neuro

thats pretty much it my goal is for a 240+. Any tips or suggestions

I understand that most people prefer/recommend the '99 edition for cell and & molecular biology because it's concise. But hasn't a lot happened since '99 in this area that's not reflected in the book yet reflected on the Step?

Looks like a good plan. Whether it's a 240+ plan is impossible to tell - if you're in the 70-80's (%) and in the 240 range on NBME's by the end of your studying, then you'll know you're ready to get your 240+.

Some personal opinions:
I recommend BRS over RR physio, no question. I also recommend HY Behavioral (or some equivalent little review book). FA Biochem is plenty, although run through the HY Biochem book (or BRS, I don't know anything about BRS Biochem) if you want to make sure, though I honestly think there's just as much or more in FA. Finally - the best thing you can do is study really hard M2 year and learn/memorize all the M2 stuff throughout the year; do well in M2 courses. That way you don't have to worry so much about "is FA enough?" because you'll probably have the benefit of a more comprehensive mastery anyway, which will be properly reinforced through UW, FA, and all your annotations into FA.

in general, do what it takes to learn the material well during 2nd yr. i felt that this was really important...i did not use textbooks like robbins (ive never been a textbook reader) but instead did what i was most comfortable with to learn the lecture material - mainly my class scribe notes, and im sure ur school has an equivalent. as lebowski said, learn the material well the first time around bc by the time you start your board prep, you will be remembering all sorts of things from the year. good luck!

john we got some good profs next semester and the one after that too , esp for path II... u know there is no time for all those review books during the semester.... one of the kids here, actaully skipped the kaplan prep **** and just studied on his own but now apperantly they are going to make it mendatory attendance

You have mandatory attendance at a Kaplan prep course?

That's strange...do you mind if I ask what school that is and why they require it?

Yep, just echoing other posters - the sources you are planning to use are solid - but what cannot be overemphasized is learning the material well in your classes. If you want 240+ it will be so much easier if you study well 2nd year. I know several people who tried to compensate for 1 1/2 yrs of relative slacking by studying hard for 6 months for the Step 1 and they were disappointed. Good luck.
