My last day of my M2 year is tomorrow and I'm scheduled to take the Step 1 on June 11th, or 6 weeks from Saturday. I'm looking for any feedback on my prep.
I'm not the best student in the world, in fact my GPA is probably in the bottom quartile of my class, largely due to an F in gross anatomy before I took a leave of absence for personal reasons (that contributed to the F in anatomy). So my basic science years have been a little more spread out. I'm a pretty consistent B student with a few A's and C's sprinkled into my transcript. I'm usually pretty good at standardized tests though, although it's not a good score my 69 (predicted 198 on the Step 1) was in the top 13% of my class, and we usually score around the National average and a good number of 240+ scores. I say all this just to give an idea of what type of student I am. I'm a bit of a slacker, but want to make up for some of it with my step 1 prep.
I'm going to try to put the most emphasis on "memorizing" First Aid, BRS Pathology, and BRS Physiology. Then I'm also planning on reading through the following books once, and although not memorizing everything making sure I understand and recognize everything:
-Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews: Biochemistry
-High Yield Cell and Molecular Biology
-High Yield Histology
-High Yield Embryology
-High Yield Gross Anatomy
-High Yield Neuroanatomy
-Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple
-Medical Microbiology and Immunology: Examination and Board Review (immunology section only)
-Katzung and Trevor Pharmacology: Examination and Board Review
-BRS Behavioral Science
-High Yield Biostatistics
I'm also going to try to listen to the entire Goljan lecture series 2 times while I'm driving (30 minutes each way to school) and working out.
My question is what are the most high yield question sources. I'm wanting to do both questions randomly and also by discipline to correlate with what I'm currently studying. I either already have or could get the following, there is no way I could get through them all, but want to do as many as possible. Which are the best choices?
-Robbins Review of Pathology
-WebPath examinations
-Kaplan Q Book
-NMS
-Clinical Vignettes for the USMLE Step 1: PreTest
-Appleton and Lange Review for the USMLE Step 1
-Board Simulator Series
-Rapid Review USMLE Step 1
-QBank
-IV QBank
I'm also planning on doing some sort of simulation/self-assessment each Saturday. I plan on using the NBME 150q CD-ROM, Kaplan Diagnostic Test, CBSSA Forms A and B, Blueprints Step 1 Q&A, and Blackwell Science online exam for this.
I've also got the Underground Clinical Vignette series and was thinking of maybe forming a study group to discuss these cases.
