My test is tomorrow and I don't feel prepared at all..

I have a scheduled DAT tomorrow for 11:30 but the closer to crunch time its getting, the more I'm realizing I'd need some real luck on the QR and OCHEM section of my test to get the score I need. The problem is, my eligibility runs up this week as well. To cancel its $100 I believe but to just not show up wouldn't cost me anything (other than the immense amount of guilt and anxiety I'm already having right now). I feel like if I study the way I have been the last week for maybe.... 2 more weeks, I'd come out of the DAT with at the very least a 20 AA. Right now I'm thinking I'd be lucky to get 17 after seeing the holes I'm running into. (PAT could still use a little work on, I get 19s but feel like with some more days I can bring that section up other than angles)

Anyway my question is should I still pay the $100 if I decide tonight I need to cancel still? (if that's even possible) Or since my eligibility runs up anyway, is it necessary to pay the $100 to cancel since I'm going to have to reapply for the test again? Gah... I'd feel even worse if this was my parents money.. unfortunately I work full time and yep.. its out of pocket. I'm going to study regardless probably until about 3am tonight and wake up probably around 5:30 if I even go to sleep in anticipation to take it, but I really feel negative about my chances right now. Will it show up as NO SHOW on any type of record linked to my name if I don't go?

I felt exactly the same as you do right now, but everything turned out fine. How long have you been preparing for it?

About 2 weeks non stop, but maybe 1.5 months counting at work and that kind of studying really gets interrupted when people come in and I have to help them. At this point I'd feel much more comfortable just ponying up the money... studying another 2 weeks or so at this pace... and take the test then but thats only if it's possible. Money isn't the worry here I can stomach it if I know it'll be worth it for my score, but will not showing give me a 0 ? Will it be on record that I didn't show? Or to avoid that is that why the $100 fee is there? Once again my 6 month eligibility runs up this week as well. I could go take this thing and make a crap score the way I'm feeling about it right now

waiting to take the DAT is the worst feeling ever. time goes by so fast in the last month before the test. u just get really friggin anxious until the moment u get to the test center. goodness, good thig i dont have to go through that again till NBDE. good lck to u tho! ull be fine.

trust me man! i felt the same way! i highly recommend looking over all ur rxns. if u had chads, he had a review sheet somewhere on the chem videos. i think its somewhere between 15-18 pages. print that out. has all the rxns on it for almost everything. look it over make u sure remember it. if u get lost, then look up that rxn in ur notes.

thats what i did and got a 25 in oc and i was the kid who always made C in orgo. orgo is not too hard on it.
know ur basics wells and most of of ur important rxns and ur golden. even if u forget a reagent, then look at is it getting reduce oxidixed or which is nuc and elec. sometimes doing that alone will get u the answer.

u will be fine man. oh lastly, if u havent already def go through chads quizzes. even if u dont legitimately answer the question, look at the question, think abt how to solve it, then look at the answer. i did that and helped me a lot.

i didnt do well on the math (even though I got 20+) on the practice tests so thats y i dont have much advice for that. i did have some questions on trig and probability if that helps.

Thanks for the motivation. I'm just worried that say I don't show up, with the test being scheduled in my name does it give me a 0 on the dat? or does it count as 1 of my 3 attempts? or does it record on a permanent record of sorts that says i "no showed"

I would say go ahead and take it, and if you could not show up, they would just cancel your appointment, no refund of course. It wont be counted as one of your attempts, you just simply wont receive a grade, like nothing ever happened. Good luck 👍

DO IT! DO IT NOW! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!? KILL ME NOW!! Just kidding I was thinking about predator. Listen you'll never feel 100% prepared for this exam, but just take and if anything dust yourself off and try again. **** dude i'm about to take the exam for the fourth time, I got an 18 three times already, hell yeah i'm scared to take it again and get another 18 but I'm gonna get trying. The OC section is all memorization so if you know how to do basic problems you'll be okay. The QR which im sure you've used math destroyer for is good, but know the basic stuff it pops up a lot. I say go for it! And good luck!!
