I am supposed to be taking my DAT right now, but an hour before my exam, I got a call from the center informing me that the computers were down and I would have to reschedule. Has this happened to anyone else? Unfortunately all the testing spots have been filled for the month of May; does anyone have an idea of how I can worm my way into getting a spot so I can take the exam ASAP?

I am sorry to hear about your situation. Since you have mentioned that most spots from other test centers are filled, then I guess there is nothing you can do but to inform them to call you as soon as there is a cancelation. However, if you can get one in early June (which is only about 1 1/2 week away), you can have extra study time.

I wouldn't worry too much. Use the extra time to study. Maybe it's a sign saying that you need to study more 🙂 Try to reschedule it for the earliest date available in June. Where do you live? Usually there are many testing centers in a city.

Unfortunately I will be on vacation for the next two weeks, so that is why I want to take the exam before I leave. Don't want it hangin' over my head. And the 2nd nearest testing center is about 1.5 hours away. Thanks for the responses.

Then maybe you should reschedule your test about 1 week after when you come back from the trip to get you back to study mode, refresh your memory, let you sober up 😀 and concentrate on the DAT again. Mid to late June is still an adequate time to take the DAT. I did it in late June too last year. Just send your application first and then if you want to speed up the process, just fax the unofficial copy that you will receive after completion of the test to the schools.

I kinda had a similar situation. I continuely delay my testing date because I never felt ready. I even had to study during my three week vacation in Brazil; it was a waste of time. However, I can back refreshed and really concentrated for two weeks before taking the exam. So, study extremely hard before the trip until your sick, relax during your vacation, and hit the book with a refreshed mind after the vacation. I took the test the first of Oct. I thought it was late, but everything worked out fine. June is not late at all.

You shouldn't be concerned about getting your application complete within the first few weeks of aadsas opening. I wrote the DAT in early september on the saturday before my classes started, and I got accepted to almost every school I applied to (including Harvard) - all except for the state universities of New York. But if you really want to get it over with, a 1.5 hour drive isn't really that bad. I can do the 3 hour drive to my university town standing on my head. Best of luck to you.
