So what do you think the N is going to do? I got 4.0, 39 for GPA and score. I am shooting for top schools, I know my number stats are terrific for any school (I also have good EC etc) However I am pretty freaked out about the N in writing. It is right at the bottom 10% for all the top school or below! I realize that no one in their right mind would retake a 39. I am just wondering how much it would decrease my chances? And would this eliminate any chances for a merit scholarship?

BTW I am not a horrible writer, my rough draft just sucks.

I'm in the same boat, just with less extraordinary stats 😛 I'm not worried about the N, but I'm also not particularly interested in attending the high ranked schools for fiscal reasons (the only one I'm really considering is Emory). The low writing score is annoying though :/ Don't feel like I'm a bad writer, but it was the same deal for the SAT! Anger.

I am kind pissed i should obviously have spent more than 1 day (3 hours...) studying for the writing section!

There is very little chance that this will be more than a simple "what happened" question in your interview. Don't worry about it.

You'll be fine. Nobody cares. I too got an "N" with 39/3.96 and I ended up at a "Top 5" school (not that it matters that much). That said, I was never offered merit scholarships by any schools...

Just worry about an acceptance before you worry about merit money. There's nothing you can do about the money; certain people, no matter how qualified, will simply not be offered merit money because they are not unique.

Good luck

Good! 😀👍 Just be relaxed and personable at your interviews, you'll be golden. I'll probably see you here in 2 years with those numbers 😉

writing doesn't matter as much as the other sections.

I don't think the writing score is weighted that heavily when adcoms are looking at your MCAT.

I got a "N" and was never asked about it at interviews and got into my dream school with a much lower numerical score and GPA than you.

That will also depend on how my gf do on her mcat. We are applying next year and I am passing down all my MCAT material + knowledge 🙂

Well best of luck to both of you then! 🙂
