i was wondering how long after an interview til schools notify you of their decision? and if they do decide to accept you... how long do you have to confirm it and make the deposit?

my top choice schools are mostly on the west coast.. but as you all know west coast schools lag a lot. so if i went to a east coast interview and get accepted, will they give me enough time to try my luck at the west coast ones first? i dont want to be forced to make a deposit only to get accepted somewhere else.. or even worse turn down an acceptance to end up nowhere! -__- thankss

put the deposit down for the first school and then wait for the decision of your top school...that way your covered each way

isn't the earliest acceptance Dec. 1? each school is a little different i think...if u have the adea book it tells u how long u hav to make the deposit.

but the deposit is non-refundable so i don't think ppl would want to waste $1000...

oh, well deposits in Texas are more reasonable... Baylor is $300 and UTDB at Houston is $15!

December 1 is the magic date. Some schools post a day early (like VCU did in 2006) 😀

One of the best days of my life. Deposit dates vary.

I know that at Florida they give you 45 days if they let you know in December, 30 days if in January or February and 15 days after that. I would waste a deposit at one school before telling them no if I didn't have a backup option.

This is a typical deposit schedule.

No school will let you if you were accepted before 12/1.

So if you get into a east coast school on 12/1 but havent had an interview on the west coast yet, and you want to go to d school i would eat the cost of the deposit. in the admissions game, nothing is certain. you dont know what will happen.

hmm 1000 ouchhhhhh. wish all schools were synced somehow... but guess we cant have everything

Even if the deposit is for $1,000, it's worth it in terms of having that safety net. There's no reason at all to turn down a school before having the acceptance letter from a better (in terms of your own personal preferences) school in hand.
