... Hi there,

I'm changing my name from something really ethnic to something American. First and last name. How do I tell my letter of recomendation writers?

Thanks

I am getting Married and am unshure how to change my name, I am using just his name for my last name but I was thinking of taking "Toni and Jean" into my first name and making my maiden name my middle name, or should I just leave it traditional?

It's a personal choice, really - whatever works best for you and your husband-to-be. I personally won't be changing my name when I get married, but that's my prerogative.

I've seen a lot of people recently doing the maiden-to-middle name thing - it might be a good idea if you want to keep your old name intact without the messiness of hyphenation. If you don't care about keeping your last name at all, then just do it traditionally. The only person it'll really matter to or affect in the end is you and your fiance.

I can't help you with what to change your name to, but to actually do the change, just take your marriage certificate, social security card, and driver's license to the social security office near you. They'll print you out a new SS card and then you change your driver's license at the DMV, then you go from there.

changing names seems like such a hassle

what would people do with their firstname.lastname gmail accounts?
